Antalya, Türkiye’de yangınla mücadele eden herkesi düşünerek bu gece dua ediyorum.

Aksu’da başlayan ve kuvvetli rüzgârla Kepez’e doğru ilerleyen yangın nedeniyle 254 ev ve yaklaşık 720 kişi güvenli bölgelere tahliye edildi. Bazı mahallelerde tahliyeler devam ederken, hayvanlar da tehlikeden uzaklaştırılıyor. Ekipler yangına hem karadan hem havadan müdahale ediyor.

Bu haberleri okurken sayıların arkasındaki insanları unutmamak gerekiyor: Evini kısa sürede terk etmek zorunda kalan aileler, dumanın içinde çalışan itfaiyeciler, orman ekipleri, pilotlar, AFAD görevlileri, belediye çalışanları ve gönüllüler… Her biri başkalarının güvenliği için büyük bir risk alıyor.

🇹🇷 A firefighter looks toward the flames—then turns back toward the homes.

In Antalya, strong winds have pushed wildfires through parts of Aksu and Kepez, threatening communities, farms and greenhouses. Authorities have evacuated 254 homes and moved around 720 people to safer areas. Animals have also been taken away from danger, while smoke and ash spread across the region.

But while families leave with what they can carry, firefighters, forestry crews, pilots, AFAD teams, municipal workers and volunteers move toward the fire. They work through heat, smoke and exhaustion—protecting homes they may never have seen before and people they may never meet again.

This is not just a story about flames. It is about courage, loss, community and hope.

Strong winds have pushed a wildfire through forested areas of Antalya’s Aksu and Kepez districts, with flames affecting areas around Karaöz, Hatipler, Yeşilkaraman, Kızıllı and Çamlıca. Smoke and ash have reached Antalya city center, while roads and communications have also been disrupted.

Authorities evacuated 254 homes in Aksu and Kepez as a precaution. Animals, including those at a municipal shelter, were also moved away from threatened areas. Firefighters are working from the ground and air, using five aircraft, more than 10 helicopters, around 110 firefighting vehicles and more than 600 personnel to contain the blaze.

The fire has damaged forestland and threatened homes, farms and greenhouses. Strong winds have made the work especially dangerous, but crews continue to stand between the flames and the communities in their path.

Behind every headline is a family leaving home, an animal being moved to safety, a firefighter working through smoke, and a responder facing heat and exhaustion so others can survive. 🇹🇷 ANTALYA, TÜRKİYE: WILDFIRES CONTINUE TO THREATEN COMMUNITIES

Wildfires in Antalya have entered a second day as strong winds push flames through forested and agricultural areas across Aksu, Kepez and Serik. Homes, greenhouses and farmland have been damaged, and precautionary evacuations have been ordered in threatened neighborhoods.

According to a September 8 report by Türkiye Today, three neighborhoods and an animal shelter were evacuated in the Aksu area. In Serik, five homes were left unusable, while three people were treated after smoke exposure. A routine swim in Lake Tahoe turned into a terrifying wildlife encounter.

On August 30, 2026, Reno swim instructor Lynette Billin reported being pulled underwater by what she believed was a river otter near Hidden Beach. She said she fought her way to nearby rocks and escaped the attack.

Billin suffered injuries to her face, arms and legs and reportedly received 38 stitches, including 22 stitches to her foot.

Nevada wildlife officials searched the area but were unable to locate the otter. They say attacks like this are extremely uncommon, although wild otters can become aggressive when threatened, cornered or defending young.

Visitors are still encouraged to enjoy Lake Tahoe—but stay alert, keep a safe distance from wildlife, and never approach or corner wild animals.
