The secret to perfect Loglines is to force yourself to be specific. 🤓

What actually happens in the story?

Being too mysterious robs the reader and a potential investor/viewer of being able to clearly visualize your story.

Consequently, the ability to actually imagine what the film will be about is one of the most important elements to get right when writing a logline.

Which logline is better? 🤔

It depends on who you are!

If you know what free soloing is and you know what El Capitan is then a satisfyingly simple and to-the-point sentence from Ex. 1 is probably enough for you.

However, if you don’t know what those things are then the more hand holding nature of Ex. 2 probably gives you a better understanding of what the film is about.

KEY TAKE-AWAY: Always be thinking about your audience! What do they need to know to understand what’s at stake in your film?
