Good afternoon Yuma, here at the Humane Society we try to save as many lives as possible day in and day out. Unfortunately, due to space constraints of our shelter, we sometimes have to make difficult decisions. We strive to be “No-Kill” but with limited space and constant intakes there is only so much we can do. No Kill is only a benchmark. The benchmark is defined by a 90% live release rate. At HSOY we have strived to never euthanize healthy and adoptable animals regardless of our No Kill status or live release rate. In an effort to be transparent and give these animals a chance at a new life, we will be posting weekly a list of shelter pets who are at the highest risk of being humanely euthanized solely because of a lack of space. We are hoping this will give them additional exposure for potential adopters. Please help us by sharing this post so we can give these pets the chance they deserve.
All of our adoptable animals can be seen here. https://hsoyuma.com/adopt.html
