I can't stress the importance of having a will,life insurance, documentation, or having some sort of plan in place for when you pass on. We are all on borrowed time and I know we don't think it can happen to us, but in reality at any moment your life can be taken from you and your loved ones are the ones left behind to pick up the pieces all while they are grieving. Yes GoFundMe helps a portion of what the families expenses are but in Juans case his funeral cost around 27k ,his headstone was almost another's 3k, we had car payments, final obligations, clothes he wore, what the kids wore , obituary, things that were needed for the funeral , helped pay a couple of bills etc. It's been over a year since his death and we are still waiting for his final paychecks, union death benefits, they have to restart the ss death benefits since there was a hiccup, the court cases are still in the beginning stages, Juan was the main provider for our family and its been difficult to get back on track considering my expenses have more than doubled and financial contributions is none other than my own. There have been strangers that have been kinder to me and the kids than those I have known my whole life But this is the harsh reality of what life can be like for your family if you dont have a plan in place.

35 more mins to the exact time a year ago today when Brock killed Juan Jman Lopez and changed our lives forever . Brock destroyed our lives as we knew it and this past year has been a rollercoaster of emotions.. Life without Juan is something the kids and I will never accept or get used to. The fact that this is now our reality is heartbreaking

Brock Alexander Hoffman is the man who took .L084 life the night of June 29 2024 and has yet to show accountability. Our world was turned upside down that day, my kids lost the man who was always supposed to be here and keep them safe, the man who shares their same color of eyes, blood and last name. The man who worked his butt off for them, the man who was their everything. The fact that Brock may only face up to 4 yrs for killing someone and leaving them in the road is disgusting. Its a known fact Brock was drunk but since he hid for 5 days the Santa Barbara police department could not be bothered with thinking outside of the box. Who you know and privilege should never be a factor when it comes to punishment especially when it involves taking another persons life. Brock has shown nothing other than how selfish he is and how little human life means to him. I do hope that judge carrazzo will make an example out of Brock and hopefully set the standard of what needs to be the consequences for this type of crime and hopefully other families will be spared from such tragedy

She misses her dad so much, she was his favorite his princess his everything and he was his, my daughter has shown much strength through all this when I know she is broken inside I wish I could take her pain away, I would give anything for a do over button and go back to that day and somehow change everything to where Juan Jman Lopez didn't die that day. My kids deserve to have their dad here, they deserve to have him meet their future spouses, walk our daughter down the aisle, introduce their babies to their grandpa they deserve to have him around the table during thanksgiving, being able to see him when they need dad or just a hug, hear his laugh when he watched Seinfeld or to get annoyed with him when he wanted to annoy them on purpose they deserve to have all those big and small moments that we all took for granted because he was supposed to always be here and Brock Alexander Hoffman took that away from my kids ,he took that away from all of us. It's not fair I can't understand how someone who loved life, had goals , dreams, kids and was working towards being the best version of himself he could be ,someone who would give a homeless person his last dollar had his life cut short due to someone else actions and the coward who hit him and left him there to die on the side of the road as he was nothing and who has done nothing but make excuses walks around like nothing, his face doesnt get shown, he still goes to work, eats, drinks (alot from what i hear) socializes, he carries on a normal life with not one ounce of remorse for that night.The only sadness he feels is for himself and the fact he's facing loss of his freedom, Brock Hoffman has done nothing to show that he's truly sorry and cares about human life, instead he has only lied and has been determined to only get the least amount of consequences as possible . Its not fair that Brock doesn't have to endure the pain we do when he is the one responsible for it all. How can he look in the mirror everyday and call himself a Man, how can he be proud of the person he has become, how can he even for one second think he is a good person, how can those that know him be fooled into feeling sorry for him and even worse try to get him out of it with the least amount of consequences as possible. Juan was somebody,his life mattered and I refuse to let those that know Brock and Brock himself to downplay what Brock did that night or to have him not face us and see firsthand what his actions that night caused.
