My Mom’s Father served in both World Wars. He was half Chippewa, living in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
When we went there to bury my Mom, we mentioned his last name — LaLonde — to a man at a restaurant. He knew the name. The man was then owner of the restaurant and our dinner was on the house!
