How can I prevent DPD drivers from peeing on my carpet?
This morning, for the second time in the last 6 months, I left the front door of my flat to take my dog for a walk. Before me, in the communal stairwell stood a DPD driver, relieving himself against the wall and carpet.

The last time this happened, I took a photo of the driver, the van, the urine, a CCTV video of his van arriving at the property, and a screenshot confirming his delivery to the property that very morning; however, DPD's complaints escalation team told me that without a video of the driver mid-urination there is nothing they can do.

This is a little bit problematic, I can't install CCTV in the communal areas, and I'm pretty sure it's illegal for me to get my phone and film someone peeing.

As such, I am looking for suggestions from the creative minds in AskUK, how can I stop DPD drivers peeing on my carpet?

Update 12:26: I've gone with the most upvoted solution and called the police, whilst trying to report a crime via the hampshire.police website it prompted me to call them as my crime involved bodily fluids! They were very helpful and will be providing me with a crime reference number which I will be sharing with DPD... With little evidence I'm not sure anything will come of it, but I have seen a lot of eye opening debate in the comments, thanks for your suggestions and support 🙏🏻

Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right?
Spellings, customs, the way they write the date... there are many curiosities about those strangers across the Atlantic that seem wrong us, or just leave us thinking why? But are there any definitely occasions where you think "We're wrong, they're right"? For bonus points, which difference angers you the most?

I'll go first. I prefer the American pronunciation of "lieutenant". It more accurately represents the number of times the letter F appears. My biggest annoyance is that we caved in and adopted their spelling of "sulphur" and their definition of "billion" as 10⁹ rather than 10¹².

How do I get rid of an unwanted sword?
The scenario is so much more tame than the question, but I am terrible at wording thigs.

Cleaning an attic years ago, I came into possession of a 1970s ceremonial rapier. Its a royal guards sword, hallmarked by Wilkinsons swords and stamped with the late queens insignia. Its a gorgeous item and I had every intention of displaying it with the respect it deserves.

I did not do this, instead its back gathering dust and I feel awful. I had a collector review it, and its missing its brass scabbard ring and the scabbard itself.

I am now in the process of moving house and I know that I am never going to display it properly. What is the best LEGAL way of me passing this to someone who wants it. I dont want it to be destroyed because its an item with history.

The collectors I have spoken to wont take the item because they arent too rare to find, and usually are in better condition. There arent really any auctions near my area, and I dont fully understand the legality of trying to sell it.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it tremendously.

Pictures attached of the sword in question, i do polish it occasionally but again, I feel it deserves more than I will realistically actually do. I have adhd, I tend to get these things impulsively.

Could you live - permenantly - in a hotel?
Let's say that you can get a room in a 4* hotel for £80 per night (so £2,400 per month). This would be a room for one person with a large bed, desk, big TV, wardrobe, small fridge, kettle, bathroom, shower, etc.

The water, electricity, and broadband are included in the price as is regular cleaning.

If something breaks then the hotel should fix it. No need to call a plumber or electrician.

Many hotels have reward schemes with a 2% or 3% discount on prices for regular users.

Apparently, VAT is not payable on hotel rooms from day 29 which will significantly cut costs for an unbroken long stay.

I assume one would get to know the employees and treat them well and, in turn, they could assist you as and when necessary.

The main issues are the lack of space (but many people live in cramped conditions anyhow), minimal places to put purchased objects, and the general impersonal nature of the establishment. However, none of these will be an issue for some people. You could even cheaply rent a storage space for your possessions.

Also, you could not cook. You would eat cold food, order room service, or eat out (which would append to the costs).

Has anyone done this? Is it viable? You could attempt to live in a reasonable area and perhaps pay less than renting a one-bedroom flat. All bills are included and you are not paying for any repairs.

ETA: There was also a "fitness centre" in the basement but I suspect it was not quite the same as a gym.

Should supermarket loyalty “discounts” be capped?
I saw a tube of toothpaste in Tesco today for £8.10, discounted to £3.50 if you have a clubcard.

I’ve been assured in another sub that this is a legal practice, but to me this is a morally reprehensible strategy to implement during a cost of living crisis. There are many groups of people impacted by this:

Under 16s who aren’t eligible for clubcards

Vulnerable people would find it difficult or impossible to apply for a clubcard

Those who can’t shop elsewhere due to living in rural areas, lack of transport, or mobility issues

Those who object to selling their personal data to large corporations just to access fair pricing.

So my question is twofold:

What are the most shocking loyalty “discounts”/price inflations you’ve seen in the UK?

Would you support the introduction of a cap on such discounts for ESSENTIAL items to ensure that supermarkets have to offer these items at a fair price?

I may be wrong but as far as I am aware in the UK the live pin is only active if you insert the earth pin first?

So do these not basically open the live pin and make it more unsafe than having nothing in the plug at all?

The wife has these in all of the kids bedrooms so just wanted to ask somebody who may have a bit more electrical expertise if they are a waste of money?
