If you’re a fan of musicals (or Shakespeare parodies) like I am, I really think you’ll love the musical comedy, SOMETHING ROTTEN!

This was my first time seeing this musical and I absolutely loved Santa Fe Playhouse’s production. It had everything I enjoy in a musical: big dance numbers, clever lyrics, memorable characters, and it was really funny!

Set in the 1590s, SOMETHING ROTTON is about a pair of playwright brothers who try to outshine Shakespeare by inventing the very first musical. The subtle nods to other famous musicals made my theater nerd so so happy!

The show runs through August 2 at the Alhambra Theater inside the Scottish Rite Temple right here in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Tickets are available through the link in ’s Instagram bio. Don’t miss it!

I recently had an incredible evening at Mystic Echos: A Culinary Feast of Flavors & Dance at The Mystic Santa Fe! This new dinner series celebrates Indigenous culture through native performances and a five-course meal curated by James Beard award-winning Chef Sean Sherman, also known as "The Sioux Chef."

Every dish features traditional pre-colonial ingredients, but the standout for me was the tender braised turkey, and that everything was gluten-free. James had the encrusted trout, which was equally outstanding.

The event was co-emceed by the hilarious Native American cartoonist Richard Cate and Steve LaRance from The Lightning Boy Foundation. Richard kept us laughing as we received each new course. Steve introduced all of the evening’s performers, including Francesca Maestas, a talented hoop dancer; Randy Brokeshoulder, who performed a crow hop powwow dance wearing handmade regalia; and the Tewa Buffalo Dancers, who performed the Winter Buffalo Dance from Ohkay Owingeh.

This ongoing dinner series is held every Thursday through October, and tickets are priced at $145, which includes both the show and the five-course meal. Due to popularity, the only remaining date tickets are available is October 24. If you don’t want to miss out on this unforgettable evening of Indigenous cuisine and captivating performances, grab your tickets now before they’re gone! A huge thank you to The Mystic Santa Fe for hosting us for this experience!

Would you eat a whole dinner blindfolded where you didn’t know what you ate until afterward?

I learned about Dining in the Dark through a TikTok ad that kept delivering to me—and clearly, it worked, lol! We attended the Albuquerque, New Mexico event at M’Tucci’s Twenty-Five.

When you purchase tickets, you pick between three menu options: Red (meat), Blue (seafood), and Green (vegan). You don’t get any more information until you finish each course and the plates are removed. Guests are encouraged to speculate what they thought they were tasting, and at the end, the chef lets everyone know what was in each menu’s dish.

I chose the Green Menu because I assumed it would be the most adaptable to my food sensitivities. I was genuinely grateful for the level of consideration they showed toward food allergies and sensitivities. They gave me an additional white tea light to signify I had allergies and a sign listing what they were.

The whole experience was about not seeing anything, so, sorry, there are no videos this time! Both James and I attempted to take photos using only muscle memory and relying on haptic feedback, but he was so much more successful than I was 😂 Swipe to the end to see the best photo I took of the night 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was so confident too!

If you’re looking for a dining experience that’s out of the ordinary, I highly recommend giving this a try. It’s fun to challenge your taste buds and enjoy a night out! Another event like this is happening on September 26, also at M’Tucci’s Twenty-Five!
