28 North Gastropub at The Avenue Viera is excited to announce the return of our signature culinary competition for its sixth year!
A ticketed event with limited availability of 500 attendees.
Friday, February 6th 2026 from 6-10pm in The Avenue Viera’s Central Park. Award winning Executive Chef CJ Hughes of 28 North will be competing against Chef Melvin Boots Johnson of Harlem Biscuit Company in New York City.
Chef Boots is a nationally recognized culinary competition veteran. From working under Bobby Flay in the early 2000s at Mesa Grill to beating him on “Beat Bobby Flay” in 2025, He has made a name for himself in multiple national food competitions. Additional appearances include Chopped, Late Night Chef, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Man vs Child. In 2018, he was crowned Chopped Grill Master Champion. He has been featured in Forbes, NBC TODAY,
Yahoo, PIX 11 NY, and more for his restaurant success, culinary tips and delicious cuisine.
The event will feature three rounds of culinary competition with musical interludes from local legends HOT PINK and will be emceed by local personality Shane Burgman. You'll also be Wined & Dined by multiple national food distributors,
local chefs, breweries and distilleries with an awesome selection of all you can eat and drink tasting stations. Tickets for the event will go on sale November first on Eventbrite with early bird pricing as well as VIP options available. which will include elevated and private service, large screen displays to watch the competition and a VIP GPVI swag bag.
