YOUNG EDGAR OLIVER (LEAD): 8-12 year old white boy. Idiosyncratic, intelligent, sensitive, and imaginative. Forms a tight, almost twin-like bond with his sister Helen and follows his eccentric mother through an unusual, cloistered Southern gothic childhood. Expresses wonder, fear, and yearning. YOUNG HELEN OLIVER (LEAD): 8-12 year old white female. Edgar’s older sister, co-conspirator, protector, and muse as a child. Strong, artistic, nurturing but also craving freedom. AUDITION PREP
Preparing for an audition can be both energizing and nerve-wracking. Here are tips to remember:
1. Know the material: If you're attending an audition for a particular role, research the character and determine what drives them. If you are background, be attentive!
2. Practice: Whenever you can, practice your performance. Remember your lines or music and practice in front of a mirror or with a companion. Less is more with film.
3. Dress appropriately: Dress for the audition in a way that is appropriate for you. If you are auditioning for a play or musical, dress in loose-fitting, comfortable clothes.
4. Be punctual: You will have more time to relax and prepare for the audition if you arrive early.
5. Be confident: Trust in yourself. Before you begin, try to relax by taking long, slow breaths.
6. Keep it professional: Be amiable to everybody you meet at from the moment you arrive - your audition starts when you arrive. Prepare to answer any inquiries regarding your education or experience. Be honest - no need to make up stuff.
7. Have fun: Keep in mind to have fun and enjoy the journey. While they can be stressful, auditions can also be fun. Take advantage of the opportunity to perform and demonstrate your skills.

REMEMBER:
There are no small roles. Production is like a puzzle, it takes every piece to complete it.
