Ferrari Friday | Beauty at speed or standing still.

Photographed at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this year, the 1963 250 GTO is a study in proportion, purpose, and restraint. Nothing feels unnecessary. Nothing feels unresolved. The long hood. The purposeful vents. The muscular rear haunches. Every curve exists for a reason and just happens to be beautiful.

More than six decades later, the GTO doesn't look dated. It looks timeless. Perhaps that's the difference between something that was designed and something that is destined to become art.

Ferrari Friday | Between 2 Eras

Some Ferraris define an era. Others arrive just as one era is ending and another is about to begin

The 1960 Ferrari 246 S Dino Fantuzzi Spyder is one of those cars. One of only two built, the 246 S combined Fantuzzi’s beautifully purposeful aluminum bodywork with Ferrari’s front-mounted Dino V6. It was elegant enough for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, but make no mistake. It was built to race.

At the 1960 Targa Florio, the two 246 S's finished second and fourth overall. Soon afterward, Ferrari would increasingly embrace mid-engined sports racers, making the 246 S one of the fascinating final chapters of Maranello’s great front-engined competition era.

That the 246 S particularly appropriate for the 2026 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where Ferrari took center stage as the primary featured marque during Pebble Beach’s 75th celebration. Four dedicated Ferrari classes celebrated the breadth of the marque from NART competition cars and purebred racers, to Grand Tourers and coachbuilt masterpieces.

Set on the famous 18th fairway at Pebble Beach, the 246 S reminded us why Ferrari history remains so compelling. It isn’t simply about beautiful cars. With one eye in the mirror and the other firmly on the road ahead, it’s about racing, experimentation, engineering and an almost obsessive pursuit of what comes next.

Special Delivery, Pebble Beach Style

A 1957 Fiat Tipo 642 RN2 car carrier, coachbuilt by Carrozzeria Bartoletti for Scuderia Ferrari, caused quite the buzz at this years Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

The carrier arrived with two remarkable Ponies up top: a 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and a 1962 250 GTO.

Pacific Blue Edition

There are blues. And then there’s Ferrari blue against Pacific blue. On 17-Mile Drive there is enough blue to make you temporarily forget the color Rosso Corsa.

The Ferrari 458 was never designed for subtlety. A naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V8, 597 horsepower, with a 9,000-rpm redline, and the sort of soundtrack that makes the Pacific surf seem oddly under-amplified.

Revs & Redlines Magazine was at the 75th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
