I’ve spoken with many people this week who are struggling with working and adapting to their new life at home. I get it.⁣


As someone who has worked from home for the past 15 years, I learned a lot about productivity.⁣


First, I work better when people aren’t hovering over me and I’m not confined to a desk. Natural light is essential for higher productivity, so I position my desk in front of a window.⁣


Taking frequent breaks helps my brain rest and recharge. When I return to my work, I look at it through fresh eyes and I am more productive. ⁣


Going on a walk and changing my scenery for just five-ten minutes makes an enormous difference. You’re exercising your body and mind at the same time.⁣


Time blocking is essential. I reserve the first 30 minutes of my morning for tea and reading. From there I block an hour and respond to emails, social media messages, engage with posts, and check-in with other people.⁣


Write out a schedule and if you don’t follow it, don’t worry. It will help you visualize your day and keep you on track. Leave some room for spontaneity in your life.⁣


Keep it simple - I avoid piling on projects and pressuring myself into being productive all the time. It’s counterproductive.⁣


Get dressed! You’ll feel better about yourself and dressing the part fuels your mindset.⁣


I love putting on headphones and drifting off to another place when I’m working. This is effective for some people and others need quiet. I trained myself to work in busy or noisy environments so I can work anywhere.⁣


This is critical, if you have children.⁣


They want your attention. If you are doing desk work, try putting their desk next to yours so you can work together. If you have to make calls, lock yourself in a room!⁣

Children change things, but with some practice you can make it work for all.

Due to increased demand and usage, Facebook is rolling out new Live video features.

Here's what you need to know:

- Audio-only mode, as well as automatic closed captions.

- Various ways to access a stream outside of Facebook, which means people without a Facebook account can still tune into content. This accompanies Public Switched Telephone Network support, allowing streamers to generate toll-free telephone numbers so viewers can call into the audio of a live broadcast.

- A new tool called Live Producer, which is an updated, cleaner dashboard for managing your Live broadcasts, including new, simpler tools for streaming via third-party capture tools and cameras, and connecting via the Facebook Live API.

When I began working with video a few years ago I had a fear of public speaking and I didn't like the way I look at certain angles. The way I worked through my fear was pushing myself to record videos.

I forfeited a chance to go on a family vacation and locked myself in the house for three days. I recorded about 20 videos but it took about 350 takes to get to the finished product.
.
.
I had poor lighting I didn't have a microphone but I had a good message.
.
.
What I learned from this experience is the more I do this the more I push myself, the easier it becomes. I began to realize that it's not about me it's about you, the people who I'm trying to deliver a message to. What's your take away?

The more I was able to put you first the easier it got for me.
