Four chefs share Rosh Hashanah favorites

These sound very unique and tasty.

By RACHEL RINGLER This article originally appeared on The Nosher. ‼ Sunday August 22nd ‼ Israeli Pop Singer Liraz, accompanied by several members of NYC’s celebrated retro Ethiopian Jazz Collective will be playing at the Agnes McDonald Music Haven Stage in Schenectady. The show is FREE at 7 p.m.!

Liraz, who is of Sephardic Jewish descent, worked on her latest album, Zan, under challenging conditions. To produce it, she was in covert correspondence with Iranian musicians whose recordings were smuggled out of the country and then added to her vocals, which were recorded in the Persian language of Farsi. Zan is Persian for women, and this album pays tribute to the women of Iran. All of the collaborators had to remain anonymous, according to Liraz, “These musicians are my brothers and sisters, but our countries are enemies. If they were caught, they would be jailed,” she explained to Songlines Magazine, which bestowed its coveted Best Artist Award on Liraz in 2021.

“In defense of being a Zionst” by Jesse Levine I have a secret to confess… I hate being a Jew. How unlucky am I? Born to people banished from home 2000 years ago, we have been hunted, degraded, humiliated and Burnt alive. I hate that nothing I just said was hyperbole…. And I’m pi**ed that strangers think I’m rich when I have 5 dollars in my checking account. But I’m a proud man. I belong to people who have been hunted, degraded, humiliated, burnt alive and we’re still here irritating everyone. The only other people so adept at angering everyone are the Kurds (they are family). I can walk into a synagogue, feel at home, and can say jokes only Jews understand. Most important, I belong to people who came home after 2000 years of exile. When we declared independence; Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Iraq, vowed to slaughter us. This Arab horde couldn’t conquer a land smaller then New Jersey… we delivered a satisfying Knock out. Every time they come for us, we win and take more land. Most underdogs have one day….. we’ve had more then enough. As long as we keep her alive, Israel is God’s apology for the Holocaust. Do I hate being Jewish… absolutely! I just love being Jewish more…… and most of all I love being a Zionist.
Hi my name is Jesse. I am disabled, I have a disability, i have a hard time figuring stuff out, and i cant tie knots. I work at World Market last Saturday, when i asked a supervisor to help me tie my apron, she refused and laughed at me, in front of everyone. When I contacted HR, they said that it was rude, but not harassment. (Even though she ran around and told everyone what she did, and they were all laughing.) I am asking people to share this post, if someone who works at world market see's it, they might decide that its not ok for one of their disabled employees to be bullied by a supervisor. I know that some people might think that behavior is no big deal, that i am just an oversensitive guy. I also know that im just a cashier, and she's a supervisor, but I hope someone can help me. They say I have to keep working under her.
