Participation. Inclusion. Personal Best? Four Considerations in Developing Athletes within Inclusive Sports — Compete Magazine

"Everybody’s personal best is unique to them, their goals, actions, and are dynamic based on your unique self but the feelings of achieving new PBs are common among all, regardless of how you measure it. This is where sport has the power to enact positive change because it builds confidence, self-esteem, mental, physical and social health, empowerment and authenticity through the development of personal best."

“This literature review makes it clear that we need more scientific data derived from methodologically sound research focused on trans women athletes to build a foundation of solid evidence and to ultimately guide policy recommendations. The review suggests that sports should support inclusion of trans women in the female category in sport until there is robust and peer-reviewed evidence that it is not safe or fair for other competitors,” said Paul Melia, CCES president and CEO.

The most successful athletes those who love as their authentic selves. This means being honest and accepting who you are, strengths and uniqueness of it all as it shapes your sense of self.

Living your authentic self beings confident in who you are and making a stand to ensure that you build an environment around you rooted in social support and empowerment for yourself and the people around you. Taking it a step further, it also means you demand the same from others to ensure that inclusion and acceptance of ourselves applies to everybody.

Athletes who live authentically know it’s more than just “sport”. It’s about channeling the best of you into your sport and using sport as a platform to express yourself and empower change in your community.

Recently, an event called was held, organized by Sports Media LGBT+, LEAP Sports Scotland and Pride of the Terraces that brought forward the discussion on authenticity in sport. Read about it via Dirk Smith/Dirk Smith's recaps on Compete Sports Diversity.
