Thanks to Compete Sports Diversity for including me as one of the 2022 FACE OF SPORTS, as a kid back in Guatemala I never thought soccer could be so powerful, & how the sport can be use to give back to the communities. Everyone in Compete has been so supportive and believing on people like me who might not have further education but I really want what’s best for my community.

But something that has me so excited and nervous is that we are days away from the first ever ALL TRANS soccer match organized in the United States. This is a step more to achieve for it to improve a opportunity for and for the trans and nonconforming players.

Last night's Equality Night was a HUGE success, as the Arizona Cardinals were able to raise $45,000 for CAN Community Health, Lynn Lewis Foundation, and World AIDS Museum. The funds raised will not only be going to those who have been affected by HIV/AIDS but also in honoring them through preserving their history.

As part of the panel discussion on how living authentically has helped people in sports “elevate their game” and improve their performance. Scottish Curling and Olympics medalist, Bruce Mouat shares his experiences after competing at the olympics and winning a silver medal as an openly gay athlete. He talks about how this had a positive impact on himself, his community, LGBTQI representation in sport and curling as a sport.

As an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Compete Sports Diversity Sports Diversity Leader, Ph.D student and published research scientist with an M.Sc in Sport/Exercise Psychology and B.Sc in Sport/Exercise Science. Dirk has over 12 years of experience working with athletes and exercises of all ages and levels, over 25 years as a competitive athlete himself, including 5x U.S. Masters Swimming National Medalist and 16x Gay Games medalist. Yet, despite all of this, Coach Dirk is constantly striving to challenge his knowledge, experience and community impact while empowering his athletes reach higher, go faster, be stronger and live authentically through their endeavors.
Coach Dirk has been featured in podcasts, books, magazines, and is steadily growing through active efforts, including developing his own web series , continuing education and development in initiatives for Compete Sports Diversity and educational and community development for Virtual Sport Psych.
In addition, Dirk currently works as both strength and conditioning coach and team sport psychologist for SC BRÜHL 06/45 senior men's team and as both strength and conditiong coach and competitive swimming coach for SC Janus Köln.
