Our elders carry the wisdom, the stories, and the strength of our people. Let’s make sure they’re also being cared for when it comes to their health.
-Ask them if they’ve had their cancer screenings.
-Help them schedule their chemo, follow-up, or primary care appointments.
-Offer a ride. Go with them. Sit and hold space.
Cancer doesn’t wait and neither should we.
Check on your elders. Be that reminder. Be that support.
Let’s walk this healing path together.

Watching my niece dance, seeing her lead us in blessings, was a reminder of why we continue to fight for this sacred place. Her ceremony was a living prayer, a connection to our ancestors, and a promise to protect what is sacred. As the storm came down, she kept dancing, her spirit unshaken, her purpose clear. We must save Oak Flat. For her, for our people, and for everyone who believes that sacred land should never be destroyed.

Lozen Brown-Lopez, who is 11, follows the path danced by Apache girls for centuries of Apache, or N'dee tradition: the Sunrise Dance.
