The Phoenix Mercury snapped a two-game skid with a dominant 102-72 win over the Dallas Wings. Missing their top scorers, Phoenix leaned on Sami Whitcomb who delivered a career-high 36 points, while Alyssa Thomas notched her first triple-double as a Mercury player. The defense held rookie sensation Paige Bueckers to just 11 points. A full team effort in the Valley.

This is an opinion piece written by Nicole White and Christian Cervantes.   While some may say the Democrats have dug their own hole and are rightfully seen as the weaker party—most Americans understand a vital fact— in our dominant two-party system, electing Democrats is the single best hope t...

Thousands filled Wesley Bolin Plaza at the Arizona State Capitol in the sweltering heat to protest Donald Trump and what many called a slide into fascism. From young activists recalling the Arpaio years to Veterans denouncing broken promises, the rally was peaceful but powerful. With signs, song, and resilience, demonstrators called for unity, justice, and resistance. “Right now, there isn’t much hope out there, so we have to resist.”

A 28-year-old man, born and raised in Mesa, who wore a mask to protect his identity, when asked “Why are you here today,” told Northeast Valley News, “I’m here to protest against, well, basically fascism—we’re like full-blown into a fascist state.” When asked what he was most concerned...

In a dramatic triple overtime showdown, the Rattlers fell 50-47 to the Tucson Sugar Skulls in their third meeting of the season. Despite building a 25-point lead, five second-half turnovers proved too much to overcome. Quarterback Dalton Sneed took responsibility postgame, saying, “It’s unacceptable… championship teams don’t turn over the football.” The Rattlers (7-4) now look to bounce back next week on the road against Bay Area.

Last week the Rattlers (7-3) lost a heartbreaker to the Jacksonville Sharks 54-48, closing an unfortunate 1-2 road. They looked to turn their fortunes around at home against the Tucson Sugar Skulls (3-6). This was the third meeting of the year between the two, they split the first two matchups. The....
