Starting Saturday, October 3, the market sets up in the City Hall parking lot at 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd. It's just a short stroll from the old Brown Avenue spot and still right in the heart of Old Town.

The new lot brings more room to roam, shade overhead and power for vendors. Everything else is the Saturday tradition locals have loved since 2009, with more than 100 Arizona growers and food makers setting up each week. It's strictly a food and farming market, so come hungry and bring a bag or two.

Hours: Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., October through April
Parking: One Civic Center surface lot across the street

Afterward, Old Town's shops and restaurants are right around the corner, making it an easy full Saturday.

Home tip of the week: 3 signs your Scottsdale home needs paint.

Fading or chalky exterior paint, peeling around trim, doors or stucco cracks and putting off guests or listing photos because the home looks tired are all signs it's time for a fresh coat.

A fresh coat protects your home from Arizona's sun and monsoon damage and it changes how the whole place feels, inside or out. ACP Painting has painted more than 9,000 Scottsdale homes over the past 20 years.

Chef Matt Carter and Brian Raab are planning Dash, an all-day restaurant and neighborhood market coming to McCormick Ranch near Hayden and Mountain View. It'll be the partners' first new concept in about a decade.

Dash starts with coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Roman-style pizza, charcoal chicken, soft serve and daily specials are expected to follow as the menu expands. There's also a market side stocked with prepared foods and pantry items, including familiar favorites from Carter's other restaurants like mac and cheese, chips and guacamole and hand-shaped pasta.

The space keeps things small with 12 indoor seats and a 40-seat west-facing patio, plus online ordering and dedicated curbside pickup for neighbors on the go.

Dash is expected to open in November 2026 at 9619 N. Hayden Road, Suite 101 in McCormick Ranch. An official opening date hasn't been announced yet.

If you haven't stepped into TeaTime on 5th Avenue yet, it's one of those spots that feels like the spirit of Old Town. First and foremost it's a tea shop, with premium loose-leaf teas and teas-to-go, but the real standout is their full tea service program. They partner with local bakeries and vendors for the food, so reservations need two days' notice. It's worth it for an afternoon tea box or one of their tea classes. Find them in our Business Directory.

Maple & Ash Scottsdale is raising money for breast cancer awareness this October.

The restaurant introduced a limited-time cocktail called Second Chances, made with Grey Goose vodka, house-made fig vermouth, spiced pear, cran-apple and citrus. It's available throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Two dollars from every drink sold goes to Check for a Lump, a Phoenix nonprofit that provides free mammograms, breast health education and community support resources.

Stop by Maple & Ash Scottsdale at 7135 E. Camelback Rd., Suite 130 before the end of October to grab one and support the cause.

The 10th Annual Fiesta de Mu***os Festival returns to Scottsdale Civic Center on Saturday, October 24 from 1 to 10 PM. Admission is free.

Expect large-scale art installations and altars, live music, local food, arts and crafts, merchants and the Catrina Fashion Contest. The contest welcomes individuals, couples, families and participants with dogs.

Save these times. The Desfile de los Mu***os procession kicks off at 7 PM, followed by a special performance from Grammy-nominated artist Lupita Infante at 8 PM.

Can't make the full festival? The Civic Center's Dia de los Mu***os installations and altars stay up October 22 through 25 from 8 AM to 10 PM, so there's still a reason to stop by.

Arrive early and plan on nearby public parking in Old Town. Scottsdale Civic Center is at 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.

SUSHISAMBA is set to open at The Lakefront at Scottsdale, the redevelopment at 7501 E McCormick Parkway from Diversified Partners.

The restaurant blends Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian flavors, with existing menus built around sushi, raw seafood and charcoal grilled dishes that trace back to Japanese communities in South America.

Scottsdale's menu and design haven't been shared yet, but the spot will join a Lakefront lineup that includes outdoor dining, shops, offices and public gathering spaces.
