If you're "time constrained" and/or on a tight budget, this is a great 1/2 day, in-person general acting (camera) and auditioning class by Patti Kalles. Classes like this are fantastic to continue improving your skills and knowledge without breaking the bank. This is one of my favorite classes for new-ish actors in the Seattle area. Almost anyone that finishes MTPs camera 1 is basically "agent ready" for commercial work. This is a good little article that any actor looking for commercial work should read. In essence, its a SUPER CONDENSED version of what we agents are doing in discussing, negotiating, and reviewing contracts, rates, and shoot hours. Every paragraph here could be broken out into pages of discussion, but it's a great first step on what to pay attention to as an actor.

I saw this note from a casting director (out of state) for some auditions I just sent out. This shows the level of frustration across our whole industry of actors waiting until the last minute to send in their tapes. It's ALWAYS better to get your audition tapes done and uploaded EARLY.

***WARNING***DO NOT TRY AND DO / UPLOAD THIS AUDITION LAST MINUTE... WHAT HAPPENS IS EVERYONE WAITS TILL THE DEADLINE AND IT CREATES A "LOG JAM" AND THEN YOU TELL YOUR AGENT THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN AND THEN THEY CALL BE BEGGING TO SEND IT VIA "WE TRANSFER" AND THEN I SAY "ABSOLUTELY NOT, THATS WHY THE SYSTEM EXISTS... Parents of Child Actors... Don't forget that funding your child's Roth IRA at a very young age can be life changing later in their life. Someone very smart once said "Compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world", and adding 10-15 YEARS of compound interest to a young child's savings is HUGE.

Just $3000 in a Roth IRA at age 10, can easily grow to over $500,000 by the time they are 65!! Add a few thousand more each year, and it's millions. Compound Interest.

Your child's Roth IRA can be funded up to your child's EARNED INCOME for each year (max $7k), and that can be 1099 and/or W2 income. Most children don't have much documented earned income, but our business is one of the few that allows kids to earn significant earned income at VERY young ages. Even if they only make a few hundred or a few thousand dollars, funding their Roth to the maximum you can, at the earliest age possible, will be life changing as they get older. Don't miss out on doing this for your kids.

This is a great little article about facial expressions in acting (and not to forget them). I've always said that creating AND EDITING your own speaking content for youtube is awesome practice for acting. Looking at your own face over and over while you speak and express emotions thought the editing process is an extremely powerful feedback mechanism for learning to control your own face. Much better than even"practicing in the mirror". Seeing your own face on camera can be hard if you're a beginner, but if you want to improve, there's nothing better than "reviewing the game tapes", and no excuse when everyone has a phone to record HD video.

While it may seem obvious to the point of condescension that facial expressions impact acting, it’s not often we consider how.

The Studio NW is now offering IN PERSON classes in Seattle! I've highly recommended their classes for years in Portland. TV & Film acting 101. Starts Oct 14th. This looks like a great starting place to get to know them.

Jodi Rothfield in Seattle offers a great one-day ZOOM workshop that I can highly recommend for anyone in the PNW. Jodi has been the most active casting director in Seattle for many years, and can give the best advice to get you auditioning better, and booking more.
