OK Bi folk, the silent majority needs to raise it's voice!

Erin Reed
"Earlier this year, the Trump administration digitally erased transgender people from the Stonewall National Monument, scrubbing them from the history they helped shape. The decision sparked widespread protests at the civil rights landmark and raised alarm about broader efforts to censor transgender people from the public record. Now, new signs suggest the administration has set its sights on another target: bisexual people. Key historical and cultural pages associated with the Stonewall site have been updated to describe the uprising as a milestone for “gay and le***an rights,” quietly removing any mention of bisexual or transgender individuals.

"Signs that the pages dedicated to Stonewall were being tampered with emerged early in Trump’s second presidency. Before the first update, the Stonewall National Monument page acknowledged that "before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, or q***r (LGBTQ+) person was illegal.” The revised version then stated, “almost everything about living openly as a le***an, gay, bisexual (LGB) person was illegal.” Now, a new version of the page indicates that “Before the 1960s, almost everything about living authentically as a gay or le***an person was illegal.”

The "History and Culture" page no longer includes bisexual rights.

PrideAdventures:
"Pride celebrations are a vibrant and empowering display of love, acceptance, and inclusivity. They provide a platform for the LGBTQ+ community⁤ and its allies to rejoice in ‍their identities and advocate for equal rights. However,‍ it’s crucial to acknowledge ‍that these events ⁢are not without their safety concerns. While the⁣ majority of Pride celebrations are peaceful and joyous, it’s important to be informed about potential risks in order to ensure the safety and well-being of all‍ participants.

"One of the primary concerns during Pride celebrations‌ is ‍crowd management. With thousands of people attending these ‌events, it’s essential to ‍have well-organized security measures in place.⁤ This⁣ can include‍ proper crowd ⁢control barriers, visible and accessible medical⁣ assistance, and a strong presence of law enforcement to deter any potential threat. Additionally, ensuring ‍the⁢ availability of emergency exits and clearly marked assembly points can mitigate ⁣the risks associated ‌with unexpected incidents.

"Another aspect ⁣to consider is the potential⁢ for targeted violence or hate‌ crimes during Pride⁣ celebrations.‍ Sadly, LGBTQ+ individuals have‌ historically been subjected to discrimination and violence. Pride events, being a‍ gathering of marginalized communities, can sometimes attract negative attention from hate groups or individuals who do not support LGBTQ+ rights. Adequate security measures, such as discreet police presence and vigilant event staff, can help identify and diffuse any potential threats."

As the Pride parade approaches, it's important to take precautions to ensure everyone's safety during these joyous celebrations. From keeping an eye on personal belongings to staying hydrated in the summer heat, let's explore some essential tips to make the most of the Pride festivities while stayin...

From the article: "If you're bi+, you may not be very engaged in the q***r community. You may not even consider q***rness to be a part of your life or your identity. Given the current circumstances, though, bisexuals need to reconsider this lackluster approach to community building and political organizing. If anything, now is the time for the bisexuals, pansexuals, polysexuals, omnisexuals, and anyone with bi+ or fluid sexual and romantic identities to support the broader q***r community and, in turn, help ourselves."

Bisexuals are the largest subgroup within LGBTQ+, yet they are often overlooked. Now is the time to unite, support, and mobilize for change.
