We’ve got a holiday soundtrack for you - and its packed with Christmas bangers and festive cheer!

On this episode, we’re also joined by a very special guest — Heather from Eux Autres — who shares the story behind a truly wonderful holiday song (fair warning: it made us tear up ❤️).

Plus: we now know where to find champagne on tap 🥂

In our most recent episode we played “The Ledge” by Tullycraft. This song appeared on the album, ‘Shoot the Point’ released by Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records (HHBTM) in 2025.

This is the second Tullycraft track that borrows a song title from the 1987 Replacements’ album, ‘Pleased to Meet Me.” The first was the song “Skyway” which appeared on the b-side of the ‘True Blue’ 7” released in 1995.

You can hear “The Ledge” on our recent show, which is completely dedicated to (and filled with) some of our favorite songs of 2025 {episode 153}: https://www.mixcloud.com/PopSongsMixtape/pop-songs-your-new-boyfriends-too-stupid-to-know-about-dec-5-2025-153-favorites-of-2025/

In our most recent episode, we played the song “Shapeshiftin Demon” by Minorcan. Minorcan is the recording project of Ryan Anderson. The song “Shapeshiftin Demon” appeared on the album, ‘Rock Alone’ released in 2025.

Here are some interesting facts about Minorcan that we discovered in 2025:
• The entire ‘Rock Alone’ album was written and recorded in a basement in Asheville, NC.

• Minorcan should be pronounced Min-or-Kuhn (apologies that we mispronounced it in our “Faves of 2025” episode!)

• Earlier this year, Liz explained how this song (“Shapeshiftin Demon”) channels a seedier Superchunk vibe (and Ryan confirmed he’s a Superchunk fan!). Since then, after repeated listens, Liz would also like to discuss the fact that there’s a Bruce ethos as well.

You can hear “Shapeshiftin Demon” on our recent show, which is completely dedicated to (and filled with) some of our favorite songs of 2025 {episode 153}: https://www.mixcloud.com/PopSongsMixtape/pop-songs-your-new-boyfriends-too-stupid-to-know-about-dec-5-2025-153-favorites-of-2025/

In our most recent episode, we played the song, “Our Love Survives” by Kepi Ghoulie. This track appeared on the ‘Our Love Survives’ 7” single released by Kepiland / Stardumb / Eccentric Pop Records in 2025.

This was a limited edition Valentine’s Day single (on very lovely red vinyl!). Only 400 were pressed.

The song, “Our Love Survives” was originally written and recorded by The Thermals. It appeared on the ‘Desperate Ground’ album released in 2013.

You can hear Kepi’s cover of “Our Love Survives” on our recent show, which is completely dedicated to (and filled with) some of our favorite songs of 2025 {episode 153}: https://www.mixcloud.com/PopSongsMixtape/pop-songs-your-new-boyfriends-too-stupid-to-know-about-dec-5-2025-153-favorites-of-2025/

A while back we had Kepi as a special guest on our show and he shared one of his favorite obscure pop songs (it’s a wonder of a song by “Welsh indie pop pranksters”). It’s episode #78, which you can listen to via this link: https://www.mixcloud.com/PopSongsMixtape/pop-songs-your-new-boyfriends-too-stupid-to-know-about-mar-18-2022-78-with-kepi-ghoulie/

We’ve also had Hutch Harris (of The Thermals) as a special guest on our show, and we would put money that you have never heard his obscure song pick. In our home, we make reference to this song at least once a month because it’s so without parallel. It’s episode #99, which you can listen to via this link: https://www.mixcloud.com/PopSongsMixtape/pop-songs-your-new-boyfriends-too-stupid-to-know-about-99-with-hutch-harris-of-the-thermals/

This week’s show is a look back at some of our favorite songs of 2025.

We don’t want to call it a “Best of 2025” episode, since there’s no way to squeeze all the great songs of the year into one hour. Perhaps you’ll hear a song that you’d like to add to your end of year mixtape (or your next Bandcamp Friday shopping list)?!?!

This Friday’s show is a look back at some of our favorite songs of 2025!

Sure, some might call it a “Best of 2025” episode... but since there’s no way to fit every track from our personal heavy rotation into one hour, think of this as more of a “for your consideration” playlist. Hopefully it reminds you of a few gems as you put together your own 2025 wrap-up mixtapes and year-end lists.

📻 Catch the show on SPACE 101.1 FM this (and every) FRIDAY, 9–10pm PST on 101.1 FM (Seattle) or online at space101fm.org.
Or just tell your smart speaker: “Play KMGP!”

In our most recent episode, we played the song “Apple” by Some Velvet Sidewalk. This track appeared on the b-side of the Pumpkin Patch 7” released by K Records in 1991.

This 7” was recorded at Yo-Yo Studio in Olympia, WA. It was engineered by Pat Maley and produced by Calvin Johnson.

You can hear “Apple” on our recent show, which features special guest Jed (of Jeanines, My Teenage Stride, and Mick Trouble) {episode 152}. Jed shared one of his favorite obscure-ish songs and told us why he loves it so {link in bio}:

In our most recent episode, we played the song “Good Thing” by The Vultures. This track was recorded during a live session on the BBC in 1988.

The Vultures were an indie band from Edinburgh, Scotland. In their brief time together, they released one 4-track EP and recorded one BBC session.

In 2025, their live session with BBC DJ, Liz Kershaw was released as a 4-song 10” EP on the UK label, Precious.

If you haven’t listened yet, check out Episode #152 (link below!) to hear the very happy and giddy story of how Liz randomly ran into Calvin Johnson ( ) in a record shop and walked out with this record.

You can hear this version of “Good Thing” by The Vultures on our recent show, which features special guest Jed (of Jeanines, My Teenage Stride, and Mick Trouble) {episode 152}. Jed shared one of his favorite obscure-ish songs and told us why he loves it so {link in bio}:
