Make zines. Get 'published'. Art & Copy is a way to try new things, in our international Art & Copy Zine Club.

This month we're celebrating a year of Art & Copy Zine Club. It's been very humbling and heartwarming to connect people in small groups, mostly in Southeast Asia, where we're based, to co-make . But flyers have appeared thanks to friends supporting us in Seattle and around the Triangle, in NC. So nice.

Tomorrow in person in Phnom Penh, we'll host a popup for Art & Copy, 'A Change of Air'. That's the newest issue of our monthly zine. It's advance bookings only, to help us plan and confirm. Here's event info.

DESK is our new publication from Design Kompany, and we have two issues so far. These are the ones. A popup today. A miniature gathering, to review DESK and see if it's delivering on what I promised it would be. Something fresh, light, curious, and not too overproduced. Ask me about it. May issue of DESK is in draft. Today I am assembling the pages, seeing what works and what could be switched up. Getting an overall idea of the thing by printing it and spreading it out to see. Sometimes tactile is the only way to know. Making DESK for our subscribers and a few stockists, too, now... ask me for info as this is all getting set up in the background while I work on finishing touches, too. Art and writing and sharing stories... now more and more, in stores so more people can enjoy them.

Design Kompany hosts Art & Copy this May in virtual and real life spaces. Join us if you want to meet new people, connect, converse, and write more. We also make zines sometimes out of the things people wish to see 'published,' in a limited edition lo-fi publishing way that the zine can be.

Hosting Cojournals since March last year, Art & Copy began in earnest around last summer's end. That's when there was banter, connection, and enough material that we had already exchanged to begin to piece together snippets and formulate something... fresh. The next issue of our zine will feature a little bit of this and a little bit of Cambodia-inspired artistry, too. We're going to make it in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, and invite members of Art & Copy Zine Club to co-make it as we go.

Clubs are nice ways to meet, and keep meeting, people over time. So that you have what it takes to build trust, and rapport.

One of the best parts of being a is knowing when it's time to take a bird's eye view of situations and ask ourselves, afresh, 'What is the problem we want to solve?'

This year so far, for me, it was: 'How can I find and connect very curious people with one another, right where we are?' I'm finding them, thanks to... flyers. Flyers in 2026 in Phnom Penh is what's the news, for me.

I want to share this story with the Design Thinking community as a reminder of something we tend to forget to try, but which I absolutely love:
