Trump Administration Sacrifices Taiwan Deal for Iran War Stockpile.
The US has paused a $14bn weapons deal for Taiwan to ensure enough military supplies remain available for the ongoing Iran conflict, according to acting Navy secretary Hung Cao.
The package, which includes advanced air defence systems, has reportedly been awaiting Donald Trump’s approval for months.
Trump recently hinted the deal could be used as leverage in negotiations with China after talks with Xi Jinping. Taiwan says it has not been officially informed of any pause, while Beijing continues to oppose all US arms sales to the island.
