I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on as an editor and director of photography—a feature documentary about The Metropolis, an all-ages Seattle art and music space from the early ’80s that helped shape the city’s creative scene.
I’ve been focused on the visual and editorial side, working with archival footage and interviews to build the story.
We recently launched a Seed & Spark campaign to support the project—helping cover things like crew, music, and archival as we keep moving forward. Any support there also directly helps me continue putting time into the film.
We have already started shooting. It's being directed by Jonathan Evison and produced by Alex Shumway and Marcus Bastida. It's a great story and last week we learned a lot--, that a lot of folks successful careers not only started here, but this club saved their life. We need your help to make it to the finish line. The link below goes to our Seed and Spark Campaign and also has links to the project's website and video about the project.
(Sorry for the double posting to those of you who got the email. )
In an eleven-month period, from April 1983 to March 1984, a small all-ages club set the stage for an explosion that would alter the course of rock history. The Metropolis was the incubator for a sound that put Seattle on the map. Help us bring the underground story of the Metropolis to life!
