A single cattle panel, four rebar stakes, and a few zip ties can create a strong garden trellis in less than an hour β and it can keep producing for decades.
**HOW TO BUILD IT**
1. Start with a **16-foot by 50-inch cattle panel**, **four rebar stakes**, and **zip ties**.
2. With two people, gently bend the panel into an arch β no special tools required.
3. Hammer the rebar stakes into the ground on both sides and secure the panel to them using zip ties.
4. Loosen and prepare the soil along both sides of the arch before planting.
**WHAT TO GROW**
β Plant **cucumbers on one side and pole beans on the other**, spacing 4β5 plants per side about 18 inches apart.
β Within **6β8 weeks**, the vines usually reach the top of the arch.
β You can also grow **tomatoes, squash, or melons** β anything that climbs or can be trained upward.
β Cucumbers grown on an arch hang freely, which helps them grow straighter and stay cleaner thanks to better airflow.
**WHY THIS SYSTEM WORKS**
β The arch only takes **around 4 feet of ground space**, making it perfect for smaller gardens.
β Growing vertically **maximizes production per square foot** of soil.
β One arch can produce **200+ pounds of vegetables in a season**.
β Harvesting becomes simple because produce hangs **at eye level or just below**.
β The galvanized cattle panel is extremely durable and can last **20 years or more without maintenance**.
Sometimes the most productive structure in a backyard garden is also the simplest one to build.
