📍Bookworm Gardens Livermore Loop
1415 Campus Dr, Sheboygan, WI 53081

A new Trail Tuesday destination has officially made my list. 🌿

The Livermore Loop is a half-mile natural-surface trail on Bookworm Gardens' expanded property. It's open daily from sunrise to sunset, year-round, and is free to visit, including during the off-season.

A few things to know before you go:
🌿 The path is not paved, but it was beautifully mowed and very soft underfoot.
🐾 Pets are not allowed, although service animals are welcome.
🚫 There are no restrooms on the loop.
🎨 Art installations are placed along the trail, giving you little discoveries as you walk.
📚 Right at the beginning of the trail, you'll also find the Wisconsin Historical Society's “Thinking Big Is What We Do” History Walk, currently on display through February 2027.

One thing I wasn't expecting was the traffic noise. The loop runs right alongside Highway 43, so this isn't necessarily the quiet woodland escape you might expect from a nature trail. I actually found the contrast interesting, with a natural landscape and art installations on one side and the constant movement of the highway on the other.

Still, it's a completely different way to experience Bookworm Gardens, and I'm excited to see how this new space evolves.

Every season has its own rhythm. 🌿🐝

As summer begins to shift toward fall, the garden is already preparing for what comes next.

These bumble bees were busy visiting the newly planted goldenrod in the Riverside Eco-Garden, gathering food while helping these native plants thrive.

It’s a beautiful reminder that change doesn't happen all at once. Nature is always preparing, growing, resting, and beginning again.

Whatever season you're entering, I hope you give yourself permission to move at its own pace. 💛

Happy Mindful Monday.

📍Downtown 925
925 N 8th St, Sheboygan, WI

Thirsty Thursday took me somewhere with a slightly more classic feel this week. 🍸

Downtown 925 has that supper club atmosphere I love, with a comfortable setting that works just as well for lunch as it does for an evening out.

They also offer lunch specials, making this a great option when you're looking for something a little more special in the middle of your day.

And for the martini lovers, there's the Martini Challenge. Because apparently choosing just one martini is too easy. 😉

Have you tried the Martini Challenge yet?

🌿 Another piece of the Riverside Eco-Garden is officially standing!

Our solar tree was assembled yesterday, and seeing it come together makes this project feel a little more real every day.

Beyond being a pretty unique addition to the garden, the solar tree will help us incorporate renewable energy education into the space and give visitors another opportunity to see sustainability in action.

From pathways and native plants to the greenhouse, pavilion, and now our solar tree, this garden is slowly taking shape. I can't wait to keep bringing you along for the journey. 🤍

📍Acuity Flagpole2800 S Taylor Dr, Sheboygan, WI 53081

A short Trail Tuesday, but definitely one with a BIG view. 🇺🇸🌿

A few fun facts about this Sheboygan landmark:
🇺🇸 The flagpole stands 400 feet tall, nearly 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty.
🇺🇸 The flag measures 70 by 140 feet and covers about 9,800 square feet.
🇺🇸 Each stripe is more than five feet high and each star is just over three feet wide.
🇺🇸 The Veterans Memorial at the base honors Sheboygan County residents killed in active duty, dating all the way back to the Civil War.

It's one of those landmarks you can see from all over the area, but seeing it up close gives you a completely different perspective.

Have you ever stopped to walk around the Acuity Flag, or do you usually just admire it from I-43? 👀

Learning how to be a better steward starts with learning how to listen. 🌿📖

I’ve been reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer as I prepare for the work ahead in the Riverside Eco-Garden, and it’s giving me a lot to think about.

The book explores our relationship with plants and the natural world, and the idea that caring for a place means more than simply tending to it. It means paying attention, understanding what it needs, and recognizing what it gives back to us.

As I continue learning about native plants and building an educational garden, I’m realizing that stewardship is a responsibility, but it’s also a relationship.

There’s still so much for me to learn, and I’m grateful to be beginning this chapter with an open mind and a willingness to listen. 🤍🌱

📍 Sunset Golf Course
W3634 Sunset Rd, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085

Slow Sunday ⛳🌿
A slow Sunday can look like a little sunshine, a few swings, and absolutely no pressure to keep score.

We spent some time at Sunset Golf Course, a par 3 course that’s perfect for beginners, casual golfers, or anyone who wants to enjoy a shorter round.

With nine holes, golf cart rentals, a small clubhouse, and even a miniature golf course for the kids, it’s an easy way to spend a laid-back afternoon outside.

Sometimes slowing down is as simple as putting the phone away, picking up a club, and enjoying the afternoon. 💚

🌭 Happy National Bratwurst Day! 🌭

August 16th is officially dedicated to one of Wisconsin’s most delicious traditions, and honestly, we’ve been celebrating brats for a LONG time! Sheboygan even declared its own Bratwurst Day back in 1958! 🇩🇪🌭

So today, we celebrate the Wisconsin way: hard roll, mustard & onion. No relish. 😉

Fri-yay calls for a little something sweet 💜✨
A lavender macaron flight from Arrosto Delicatessen feels like a perfectly reasonable way to celebrate making it through the week. 😉

Did you know that Visit Sheboygan has partnered with NOAA's Wisconsin Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary to develop educational experiences in our new Riverside Eco-Garden? I can’t wait to show you next spring what I’ve been working on! Give this page a follow to see upcoming events in the garden, greenhouse, and onsite classroom!

What kind of classes would you like to participate in pertaining to sustainability, gardening and food systems, native ecosystems, pollinator and fresh water conservation, and general environmental education?

I’d love to hear from you! 💚 🌱
