What a fun time competing in our first tournament. We took 13th out of 30 teams for the Sheboygan Salmon Cup. I started with two goals, 1: weigh all five fish and 2: don’t come in last. We achieved both goals. First day fishing was tough. We went 2 for 3 and decided to weigh both fish. On day 2, we went 8 for 8. We landed 2 kings, 5 coho, and 1 steelhead. We weighed a 14lb king, 8lb steelhead, and a 4lb coho. All in all, great time fishing with these guys and we can’t wait to compete again next year.

Fishing Report for 5 Alarm Fishing out of Sheboygan, Wisconsin

Water Depth: 100-140 FOW

Weather Conditions: Less than 1’ Waves - Sunny


Catch Summary: 7 for 9. 5 Coho, 2 Steelhead

Summary: Went south and started at the power plant. Southeast troll to 140 and circled back. Had one double but nothing hot and heavy. It was a consistent bite all night though. All of the coho came in dodger and peanut fly except one came on a Dragon Slayer flasher/fly. The steelhead came on a standard watermelon spoon. Consistently marked fish all night but all of the fish came in the top 40 feet of the water column.

Weather Conditions: 2-3’ Waves - Foggy

Water Temperature: 48 Degrees

Catch Summary: 8-12. All coho.

Summary: First time fishing Racine. Started in 40 fow. Worked between 30-45 fow and hit fish everywhere. It wasn’t hot and heavy but steady all night. Orange flashers with a blue peanut fly was the best. But a DW standard Frog on a dipsy running 20’ was also hot. Couple hits on thin fins but mostly just flasher/fly combo. The lake really settled down and it was great to be back on the water.

Weather Conditions: 1-2’ Waves - Cloudy

Catch Summary: 1 for 1. Brown Trout

Summary: First report of the year. 2nd time on the boat. Went out of Milwaukee today. Trolling inside the Milwaukee Harbor. Speeds between 1.8-2.2. It got real windy, fast. Made it hard to keep control of the boat so we called it a day. Took one brown straight out from the river on a dipsy diver running roughly 20 feet deep. Hit a Double Orange Crush from Dreamweaver.

End of the Year Report

What a year it has been. From taking friends and family out for their first time to sitting around without a motor for 3 months. Still put plenty of fish in the boat. Can’t wait to see what next year brings.

Weather Conditions: 1-2’ Waves - Foggy

Catch Summary: 4 for 5. 2 Kings and 2 Steelhead

Summary: nice box. Super foggy all morning. Only saw two other boats and when we did see them, we were on top of each other. Two kings hit in the dark and then took two steelhead in 100 FOW. Both hit a Moonshine standard Wonderbread. All spoons this morning.

Weather Conditions: Calm/Sunny

Catch Summary: 9 for 11. 8 Kings 1 Steelhead

Summary: Water really cooled down and fish are shallow. Tossed 2 shakers back. Would have tossed the 3rd small one back but it was dead already. Every rod took a fish and I was covering all 70 feet. One fish hit a Kevin’s GF flasher with meat. Everything else took spoons. Wonderbread, Green Jeans, 007, Watermelon, Mongolian Beef, and Bloody Nose all took fish. Had a quad on, that got real interesting real fast. Best action was straight out from port.

Weather Conditions: Windy/Sunny

Catch Summary: 5 for 8. 2 Kings 3 Steelhead

Summary: Had the pops out with me this morning. Set up in 100 fow and trolled north west to 150. Turned around and came back. Best action was around 120 feet. Everything was on spoons with the exception of one steelhead hit a Kevin’s GF flasher and broke off a silver Dragon Slayer. Green was ticket today again. Everything was deep. 200/300 copper and downrigger were taking all the fish.
