This is Harriet Tubman. She was born into slavery in 1820 in Maryland. She escaped with her daughter in 1849 and dedicated her life to helping free other slaves. She is best known for the "Underground Railroad," a series of safe houses used to help hundreds of slaves who ran for their lives and their freedom.
