Uniforms may look different across Yamhill County law-enforcement agencies, but official deputies and officers always have clear identifiers. If youโre unsure, look for the markings that confirm theyโre certified law enforcement.
โ
YCSO deputies and local agency officers will have a nametag like the one shown here. It may be metal or cloth, depending on their uniform.
โ
YCSO deputies will always display a badge, in metal or cloth form. If itโs not visible, you can request their agency identification card, which they are required to carry.
โ
YCSO deputies, and many of our law enforcement agency partners, will have a Body Worn Camera (BWC) attached to the front of their uniform, either in the middle of their chest or on their vest.
โ
YCSO deputies will have shoulder patches identifying our agency, along with identifiers on their duty vest.
โ
Duty belts and exterior vests will vary by agency, as will their placement of items such as a firearm, Taser, medical kits, and other tools, but there will always be name tape on the front and back identifying them as law enforcement.
โ
We have a number of vehicles in our fleet, but our rural patrol and contract city deputies will have YCSO branding and logos that look like what you see here (coloring may vary). They will also have government plates, similar to this one.
If youโre ever unsure if someone is a legitimate police officer, especially when being pulled over for a traffic violation, you can call 911 or non-emergency at 503-434-6500 (503-538-8321 in Newberg) and ask.
