Massive Pickleball Complex Coming to Bossier Boardwalk; 2 Buildings, 11 Professional-Grade Indoor Courts

Bossier City, LA — Get ready, Bossier City — The Picklr Bossier City is officially coming to the Louisiana Boardwalk, bringing a first-of-its-kind pickleball experience to Northwest Louisiana.

This upcoming two-building complex will feature 11 professional-grade indoor courts, a restaurant and bar, and a lush outdoor green space for social gatherings and events. The new development promises to combine recreation, dining, and community into one destination designed for both competitive players and casual fans.

The Picklr brand, known for its modern indoor pickleball facilities across the country, chose Bossier City for its growing reputation as a hub for sports and entertainment. Once complete, the venue will host tournaments, lessons, and leagues — making it the new home for pickleball in the Ark-La-Tex.

“Two buildings. Eleven courts. Restaurant. Bar. Outdoor green space,” the company said in a recent update. “We are The Picklr — your home for pickleball. Get excited, Bossier City, because we are!”

Located at 240 Boardwalk Blvd, the facility is already under construction, with ceilings painted, walls framed, and drywall going up. The Picklr is expected to open its doors soon, adding even more energy to the Bossier Boardwalk’s riverfront revival.

Major Progress on Future I-69 Through Shreveport-Bossier; Frontage Road Connectors Underway

Shreveport, LA — Progress is underway on the long-anticipated Interstate 69 corridor through northwest Louisiana, with new engineering and planning efforts focused on key connector routes across Caddo, Bossier, and DeSoto Parishes.

Regional transportation planners confirm that the project will eventually connect Stonewall in DeSoto Parish to Interstate 20 near Haughton, providing a direct, high-capacity route through the Shreveport-Bossier metropolitan area. Early construction will begin with frontage road connectors designed to prepare the corridor for full interstate standards.

One of the most advanced efforts involves a frontage road project between Ellerbe Road and LA-1, which will serve as a future access point for I-69 and improve traffic movement around the Port of Caddo-Bossier. Engineering work and design documents for the project are already underway, signaling the first tangible step in Louisiana’s portion of the interstate.

In addition, approximately $22.6 million in federal funding has been secured to improve the regional link between I-49 and the proposed I-69 corridor via the Stonewall-Frierson area — a critical connection expected to stimulate long-term economic growth. Officials say these initial investments will improve freight access and attract future commercial development near the route.

While no complete interstate segments have yet been constructed in Louisiana, environmental studies and corridor alignments have been finalized for multiple phases. The Department of Transportation and local partners expect that the groundwork being laid now will allow full-scale construction to begin in coming years.

Local leaders believe the project could become one of the most impactful infrastructure developments in north Louisiana history — enhancing logistics, industry, and travel across the state.

Love Shreveport-Bossier Friday Night Football Scores: Evangel Soars Past Captain Shreve, Southwood Wins Big, and North DeSoto Dominates Minden

Shreveport-Bossier, LA — Week 7 of Louisiana High School football lit up the Ark-La-Tex on Friday, October 10, 2025, as teams across Caddo and Bossier parishes delivered statement performances. From Evangel’s offensive explosion to Southwood’s resilient district victory, fans were treated to one of the most electrifying nights of the season.

Evangel Overpowers Captain Shreve In Offensive Showcase

Evangel Christian crushed Captain Shreve 71–25 in one of the most commanding performances of the week. The Eagles’ offense was unstoppable from the opening drive, scoring touchdowns on nearly every possession. Quarterback efficiency and deep-threat ex*****on defined the night as Evangel extended its unbeaten streak in district play. Despite Shreve’s offensive efforts to keep pace, the Gators couldn’t slow Evangel’s relentless tempo and precision.

Southwood Earns District Win Over Woodlawn

In a pivotal 1-4A matchup Southwood defeated Woodlawn 36–22, marking one of the Cowboys’ strongest showings of the season. Southwood’s defense forced key turnovers, and the offense found rhythm behind a steady rushing attack that controlled time of possession. The win moves Southwood closer to even in district standings, while Woodlawn continues its search for consistency down the stretch.

Calvary Baptist Continues To Roll

The Calvary Cavaliers kept their winning streak alive, defeating Homer 41–12 that showcased the discipline and depth of one of North Louisiana’s premier 2A programs. Calvary’s offense spread the field effectively, and the defense limited Homer’s scoring chances throughout the night. The Cavaliers remain a front-runner for another district title as they maintain their high-scoring reputation.

North DeSoto Runs Wild At Minden

The North DeSoto Griffins dominated Minden 63–13, controlling every phase of the game. North DeSoto’s offensive line set the tone early, opening lanes for a rushing attack that piled up points fast. The Griffins’ defense also contributed, forcing multiple turnovers and holding Minden scoreless for much of the second half. The win reinforces North DeSoto’s reputation as one of the state’s most balanced and dangerous teams.

In regional action, several area programs turned in dominant victories:

D’Arbonne Woods 56, Magnolia Charter 6 – The Wolves’ offense ran efficiently, overpowering Magnolia early and never looking back.

Green Oaks 34, Bastrop 6 – The Giants notched a much-needed win with a balanced attack and disciplined defense.

Cedar Creek 60, Plain Dealing 6 – Cedar Creek’s home crowd witnessed a commanding victory built on speed and turnovers, keeping Plain Dealing on its heels all night.

What This Week Means

Week seven solidified several contenders across the Shreveport-Bossier landscape. Evangel and Calvary continue to assert dominance in their districts, while Southwood and Green Oaks earned vital confidence boosts entering midseason. North DeSoto’s explosive offense keeps them in the state conversation for a deep playoff run.

As district races tighten, the margin for error grows smaller. With only a few regular-season weeks left, every yard, stop, and score is starting to shape postseason seeding across North Louisiana.

New Details Released in A.B. Palmer Park National Night Out Shooting That Killed Teen; 15 Year-old Arrested

Shreveport, LA — Detectives have released new information in the investigation of a deadly shooting that claimed the life of 17-year-old Martaevion Loston Tuesday evening at A.B. Palmer Park in Shreveport.

According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers were called to the park around 7:30 p.m. on October 7, 2025, after reports of shots fired near the 500 block of East 79th Street at Line Avenue. Loston was found at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound and was later pronounced deceased at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport.

After reviewing witness statements and footage from the Real Time Crime Center, investigators determined that Loston was the first individual to fire a weapon during the altercation. A 15-year-old juvenile reportedly returned fire, fatally striking Loston.

The juvenile has been charged with possession of a firearm by a juvenile and possession of a firearm inside a city park. Detectives with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit are working with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office to determine whether additional charges — including potential homicide charges — will be filed.

Authorities credit the Real Time Crime Center’s surveillance footage as instrumental in helping detectives quickly identify those involved and clarify the sequence of events.

In a statement, Shreveport Police urged parents and guardians to discuss the dangers of fi****ms with their children, emphasizing the legal and emotional consequences of gun possession among youth. “Juveniles and fi****ms do not mix,” an SPD spokesperson said. “One impulsive decision can change multiple lives forever.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
