📚 Bestie: “You should totally start this series.”

Me: “Is it finished?”

Bestie: “No, but—”

Me: “🚩🚩🚩”

Also me three chapters later: completely obsessed, emotionally invested, and counting down the days until the next book releases 🤡

Well this is certainly one of the dumbest idea we’ve ever had. 😭😂

But if we’re being honest, half our favorite series were unfinished when we started them anyway. 💀📖

Tell us: What’s an unfinished series you’re currently suffering through waiting for the next book? 👇

🐍 Book Review: Kiss of the Basilisk 🐍
When I say this book is unhinged… I mean it is UNHINGED.
Monster romance is NOT typically my genre. The extent of my comfort zone is shadow daddies letting the shadows come out to play when things get spicy. But THIS? This was way outside my comfort zone and had me repeatedly questioning my life choices while reading.
This book had me on an absolute rollercoaster of:
📖 “What in the actual f am I reading?”📖 “Why am I still reading this?”📖 “Okay but now I HAVE to know how this ends…”
And somehow… I stayed strapped in for the whole chaotic ride 😂
Spice level? VERY high. Like... maybe don’t casually crack this one open in a waiting room unless you’re completely unbothered by other people judging your reading choices 🤣
I’m also usually not a huge love triangle reader. Give me a “why choose” situation where everyone is on board and thriving? Fine. But this one was MESSY. Lots of jealousy. Lots of drama. Lots of me yelling at fictional people 😭
The bonus scene at the end though?? YES 👏 It gave me everything I wanted and honestly I kind of wish that energy had happened within the main story itself.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(Realistically closer to 3.75 stars for me, but Goodreads got the rounded-up version)
Despite all of my “WTF AM I READING” moments... I’m invested now and absolutely will be reading book 2 while mentally preparing myself for even more chaotic spice
Have you read Kiss of the Basilisk yet?Did you love the chaos or were you also sitting there questioning everything? Tell me your favorite “I should NOT be enjoying this but I AM” book

😂📖 When the author kills off your favorite side character

This is the exact level of dramatic grief we all feel 😭💀

Why do they always take the best ones?! The side character who deserved the world but got the axe instead.

Can we all agree that May is basically December for parents? 😅
Between end-of-school activities, dance recitals, sporting events, chorus concerts, band concerts, awards ceremonies, field days, and approximately one million other things, May is always a whirlwind. So for a hectic month of Maycember, I was pleasantly surprised to finish 4 books! 🎉
✨ Fury Bound was my most anticipated release of the month and easily my favorite read. While I don't think anything will top Dire Bound for me, this sequel absolutely delivered. Now the countdown to Ruin Bound begins!
🌶️ Kiss of the Basilisk pushed me WAY outside my comfort zone. Friends... I was not prepared. Monster s**t isn't usually my thing, and this book was the definition of unhinged. I spent half the book wondering what I was reading and the other half unable to stop reading it. 😂
🔥 Thanks to an amazing Mother's Day gift, I dove into Glow of the Everflame and completely devoured it. It was everything I wanted from a second book in the series, and I cannot wait to start Heat of the Everflame!
🐉 And finally, we were sent an audiobook ARC of The Dragoneer Book 1: The Bonding by Vickie and Danny Knestaut. I listened to this one on NetGalley during a work trip and really enjoyed it. Huge thank you to the authors for the opportunity! ❤️
Yearly Reading Goal UpdateBooks read so far: 26/40
At this pace, I think I'm going to crush my goal this year, and honestly, that's the kind of energy I'm bringing into the second half of 2026. 😎

😂💔 When the FMC chooses the hero instead of the villain…
The absolute pain and disappointment is unmatched 😭

We were invested in the morally gray, brooding villain with the tragic backstory and she picks the safe golden boy?! The betrayal hits different every time.
Who else is personally offended by this trope? Drop your biggest “she chose WHO?!” rant below and tag your book bestie who always roots for the villain! 👇

This week’s Trope Tuesday is for the readers who love a grumpy, emotionally unavailable disaster getting absolutely wrecked by one sunshine human. ☀️🌧️
Bonus points if he:✨ growls instead of communicates✨ claims he wants to be left alone✨ falls first anyway✨ would secretly burn the world down for her
Honestly one of my favorite romance dynamics every single time. 😭📚
