HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN CHIRICAHUA MOUNTAINS....

On Friday, November 14, 2025, CCSO SAR received a report from a hiker who believed they had found human remains in a remote area of the Chiricahua mountains. The hiker did not provide any GPS coordinates, only a note with a description of the location. The description allowed the team-familiar with the area-to identify a likely search location.
On Saturday November 15, 2025, SAR members and two HRD K9 teams met at the trailhead around 0800 hours. A hasty team (Greg and Attila) headed out first to check possible locations and creek crossings. Once the team reached the suspected locations, our HRD dogs, Whiskey and Alto, showed change of behavior (COB) in the steep, overgrown creek drainage. Approximately 200+ feet above the trail the K9s located the remains.

The individual was recovered and transported to the trailhead using a Sked, where the remains were transferred to the funeral home for transport to the Medical Examiner’s Office. The Chiricahua Mountains are unforgiving.

A big thank you to all responding team members for their teamwork and professionalism, Jim, Greg, Jerry, Rick, and Attila, as well as our K9 teams K9 Whiskey with handler Sue, and K9 Alto.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all those affected.

Free Essentials Truckload is back today Monday November 17th.

Community Distribution of Household Essentials distribution will occur about 1 pm today for the general public.

We have a mixed truck of home, hygiene, infant, children, and adult diapers, personal hygiene,
Products, furniture, camping gear, automotive care products, and miscellaneous products. The gift is free through the sponsoring churches; however, any donation will be accepted to cover the operational cost of the program. Cash App, Givelify, and other approved donation apps will be used.

1. There will be no parking on the lot where the distribution is occurring. Please park in the parking lot, or along the street curb.

2. Healthcare workers with ID badges, first responders, etc. with ID, are asked to come between 11:30 - 12:30.

3. Volunteer & reset break 12:30 - 1:00 pm.

4. Public Distribution to the general public begins at 1 pm until everything is gone.

Congressman Juan Ciscomani presented the Veteran Servant Leader Award to Bobby Wise of American Legion Post 52, Sierra Vista, AZ Riders as part of the third annual event honoring veterans for their post-military community service.
The award recognizes veterans who have made significant contributions to their communities after completing their military service.

The event was held in Tucson, AZ, and recognized 36 veterans in total. Thank you for your continued community service!

At The Chase Field Tournament in Phoenix AZ, hosted by Showdown, the 12U Copper Queens youth flag football team from Sierra Vista played against two 14U girls' teams, ending with a 1-1 record. The team then participated in four games within their age division, suffering only one loss, which led to their advancement to the championship game. In the championship, they faced the Lady Ghost from Phoenix and emerged victorious with a 12-6 score, claiming the title of CHAMPIONS🏆

Heads up I-10 drivers near Vail AZ 🚧 Between Tucson and Benson.

Starting recently, I-10 between State Routes 83 & 90 (mileposts 292-293) will be reduced to one lane in either direction for a rehabilitation project.

Four railroad bridges are being repaved, as is the highway to the east and west. New guardrails and raised pavement markers will also be installed.

Motorists should also be prepared for the following during this project:

🚧 The left lanes will be closed 24/7 until this project wraps up in late spring 2026.
🚧 Crews will be on scene between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
🚧 A 16-foot vehicle width restriction is in in place.
🚧The speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH.
🚧 Expect possible delays.

Expect possible long delays and bottlenecks of traffic often in this area for the remainder of this project.
