🟠 On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther climbed the stairs of the castle church in Wittenberg, Germany, and nailed his 95 theses to the solid wooden door, which would later spark the Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther's sudden insight on the famous staircase, that the righteous shall live by faith, was an important milestone in the Protestant Reformation. The 95 theses he posted on the door of the church in Wittenberg were not just another discussion on the subject of justification by faith. They also dealt mainly with reforms in the religious system of the time, with an emphasis on freedom of conscience, condemnation of the sale of indulgences, and serious denunciations of papal abuses.
