What was the one thing every kid in your neighborhood knew?

Maybe it was whose house had the best snacks, which yard you were never supposed to cut through, where everyone met with their bikes, or which porch light meant it was time to go home.

Every neighborhood had its own little unwritten rules. What were yours? 🏡🚲

What was the one neighborhood rule every kid knew without anyone having to explain it?

Be home when the streetlights came on?

Don’t cut through Mrs. Johnson’s yard?

Bikes had to be dropped in the driveway
before dinner? 😄

Before cell phones, your parents had absolutely no idea where you were half the time.

You left the house on your bike, found the neighborhood kids, wandered around for hours, drank from somebody’s garden hose, and came home when the streetlights came on.

And somehow, everyone survived.

What was your childhood “come home” rule? 🚲

There was nothing better than brand-new school supplies.

Fresh crayons with perfect tips. A clean pencil box. Unsharpened pencils. A new lunchbox. Folders that still had crisp corners—and a notebook you promised yourself you would keep neat all year.

That promise usually lasted about four days.

What school supply made you the most excited? ✏️📚

Going to the grocery store used to feel like an event.

You rode underneath the cart or stood on the back while Mom pushed it. You begged for the cereal with the best prize, stared at the candy near the register, and hoped she would say yes to a quarter for the little machine by the door.

What treat did you always ask for at the grocery store? 🛒🍬

Every house had that drawer.

Dead batteries. Rubber bands. Mystery keys. A dried-up pen. A screwdriver that belonged somewhere else. Birthday candles from 1987. A takeout menu from a restaurant that closed ten years ago—and at least one object nobody in the family could identify.

What was always hiding in your family’s junk drawer? 😂

Remember when Saturday mornings had their own kind of magic?

You woke up early without an alarm, poured yourself a bowl of sugary cereal, and planted yourself in front of the television for cartoons. No streaming. No pausing. No choosing from 5,000 shows.

You watched whatever was on—and somehow, it was perfect.

What cartoon instantly takes you back to Saturday morning? 📺🥣
