🚨WHAT’S REALLY HAPPENING INSIDE SOUTH DAKOTA’S PRISONS? 🚨
siouxfalls | .southdakota | |

2025 has become one of the deadliest years behind prison walls in South Dakota history.
Inmates — many of them young — are dying at a record rate.
Families are grieving.
And the silence is louder than the truth.

At the same time, the state greenlit a brand-new prison — and DOC Secretary Kelli Wasko resigned under pressure after criticism from both the public and interim Governor Rhoden.

But let’s be real… there’s more going on.

There’s a serious drug pipeline inside our prisons.
And it’s not happening without help from the inside.

If a correctional officer is caught bringing in contraband, they should be charged like anyone else — because when you’re responsible for people who can’t leave, you’re responsible for their lives too.

This is deeper than politics.
This is about human lives under state supervision.
And too many are dying with no answers, no justice, and no accountability.

To our leaders — including Attorney General Marty Jackley:
We’re not asking. We’re demanding.
Truth. Transparency. Action.

🪶 A Truth Worth Sitting With Today 🪶
alvarez — original post shared with gratitude.

“Most folks don’t know this, but many Native Americans don’t “celebrate” Thanksgiving the way the rest of the country does. For many, it’s recognized as a National Day of Mourning — a time to honor ancestors, acknowledge the truth of what happened on this land, and hold space for all the lives, cultures, and traditions that were nearly erased.

It’s not about guilt.
It’s not about blaming anyone today.
It’s about truth-telling.

It’s about respecting the people who were here long before colonization and recognizing the pain, resilience, and stories that still deserve to be heard.

So while many gather for turkey and thanks, others gather in remembrance, in ceremony, and in strength. They honor their relatives who carried culture through generations of hardship. They keep history alive by speaking it — because healing doesn’t happen through silence.

However you observe the day, I hope you approach it with awareness, respect, and an open heart.

PS: I personally love Thanksgiving dinner — I love hosting and cooking for my family. For me, it’s a moment of gratitude and community. But that gratitude exists alongside the truth, not instead of it. 🙏❤️🙏”

Much love to our Indigenous Relatives 🧡

🪴Inside East River Farms: Where Sioux Falls Finds Relief🪴

| | .siouxfalls | .southdakota | 🔌

Sioux Falls has a growing medical cannabis community, and every now and then, you hear a story that reminds you why this industry matters on a human level.

East River Farms — located off South Louise — is one of those places people keep mentioning for the right reasons.

A few weeks ago, we connected with a local patient who shared their experience after visiting the dispensary, and their feedback painted a clear picture:

Clean. Organized. Welcoming.
And staff who genuinely know what they’re talking about.

They talked about how the budtenders didn’t rush them, didn’t talk over them, and didn’t treat their questions like an inconvenience. Every product explanation was clear, patient-centered, and rooted in real knowledge — something that goes a long way when people are trying to manage symptoms, pain, anxiety, PTSD, sleep issues, or just improve their day-to-day quality of life.

For a lot of South Dakotans, medical cannabis isn’t a trend.
It’s not hype.
It’s not recreational.

It’s relief. It’s stability.
It’s the ability to function.

And that’s why stories like this matter.

Because beyond the products, the branding, and the legislation…
there are real people who depend on these dispensaries to show up with care, professionalism, and respect.

East River Farms is one of the places in Sioux Falls where patients are saying that’s exactly what they’re getting.

This spotlight isn’t about choosing favorites or pushing a narrative — it’s about highlighting the human experiences behind the industry and giving visibility to the people and businesses showing up the right way.

This is the first of several cannabis spotlights we’ll be rolling out across South Dakota as we continue documenting the stories, education, and impact surrounding medical cannabis in our state.

🚨 If you’re a patient with a story worth sharing, our inbox is always open. Your voice matters.

More to come!

🏀 Precision Wins in Sioux Falls — Minnesota vs San Francisco at the Pentagon 🎯

| | .siouxfalls | .athletics | 🏀

Tonight in Sioux Falls, the Sanford Pentagon turned into the proving grounds for two programs looking to make a statement — and San Francisco walked out with the mic in their hands.

Final: San Francisco 77, Minnesota 65
But the score only tells half the story.

From the jump, the Dons came out dialed in, playing like a team that didn’t make the trip to South Dakota just to participate. They came to set a tone. And they did it behind elite shot-making and a level of poise you don’t usually see this early in the season.

🔥 The Difference-Maker

San Francisco shot 11-of-22 from three — a masterclass in efficiency.
Ryan Beasley poured in 24, Mookie Cook went 4-for-4 from deep, and every time Minnesota started to build momentum, the Dons answered with a dagger.

Minnesota made their push, tying the game at 52-52 with 9:08 left after a strong 13-4 run — and the Pentagon crowd could feel the energy shifting.

But that’s where the Dons showed composure.
They responded with their own burst, took the lead back, and never looked over their shoulder.

👀 Minnesota’s Story

The Gophers had bright spots — especially Langston Reynolds (16 pts) off the bench and Cade Tyson (14 pts) — but the free-throw line was brutal.
15-for-30 at the stripe is a tough number to overcome in a tight game.

Minnesota fought. They played with heart. They regrouped in big moments. But too many missed opportunities and a red-hot opponent from deep told the final chapter.

📸 What Show. Saw
• Energy from both squads that elevated the atmosphere
• Minnesota’s huddles — locked in, unified, battling to stay in it
• San Francisco showing championship-caliber calm in key moments
• The Pentagon crowd getting treated to real high-level basketball

Sioux Falls once again proves why it’s becoming a basketball city — elite teams, elite environments, elite storytelling.

SDSU Just Lit Up the Pentagon — And Big Blue Packed the House 🔥🐰

| .siouxfalls | .athletics | 🏀

Last night at the Denny Sanford Pentagon, the SDSU women showed EXACTLY why they’re one of the toughest programs in the region — taking down Gonzaga 72–63 in front of a crowd that was loud, loyal, and locked in from start to finish.

The energy was different.
The building was alive.
And Big Blue showed up for their squad.

Here’s what went down:

• SDSU hit 12 threes and shot almost 50% from deep
• Madison Mathiowetz led with 17 points
• Katie Vasecka dropped 16
• Six different Jackrabbits hit a three
• And even with the rebounding gap, SDSU controlled the game with pace, spacing, and confidence

Over 2,100 fans filled the Pentagon — and you could feel every their energy.

This wasn’t just a game…
It was a statement.

SDSU came to Sioux Falls and reminded everyone why the city rides for them.

Big Blue energy.
Big Blue pride.

🌽 Huskers Take The W as the Nebraska–Oklahoma Rivalry Rekindles in Sioux Falls 🌽

| | | .athletics | .siouxfalls 🏀

Last night at the Sanford Pentagon (Nov. 15, 2025), the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Oklahoma Sooners rekindled their rivalry up north — and Husker Nation turned Sioux Falls into a true home game.

I’ve been at the Pentagon for a lot of major matchups… but I’ve never felt the building shake like it did with that sea of red. Everywhere you looked, Husker fans were loud, locked in, and letting everyone know exactly why they love when Nebraska comes to Sioux Falls — because it feels like Lincoln, just with colder weather.

And the Huskers delivered.

Nebraska stays undefeated at 4–0, taking down the Sooners 105–99 in a high-energy shootout.
Pryce Sandfort was HIM — the clear player of the game with 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. Pure control from start to finish.

Nights like this are why the Pentagon is special.

Huge thank you to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Oklahoma Sooners, and the Sanford Pentagon for creating an atmosphere and experience Sioux Falls will be talking about for a long time.
