Faith• Family • Fire
Firefighters belong to one brotherhood. Whether it’s our own department a neighboring department or a department states away, we share a bond and stand in unity. One of our brothers out of Bremen, Ga is facing an unimaginable tragedy. His two year old son is fighting for his life after an accident this weekend. We are reaching out to find out how we can support him and his family during this time. The family specifically ask for prayers for a miracle. Linked is the official go fund me if you are able to support the family financially.

Smyrna Firefighters Association would like to thank the Smyrna City Council and Mayor for their steps tonight and recently in regards to retaining the members of public safety. Having the support of our Mayor and Council is extremely important in recruitment and retention, and tonight showed that it is there.

Good afternoon Smyrna.

Thank you so much to everyone that came out and lined the road to show support for Officer Ewing and the Smyrna Police Department. We will continue to share with you information as we make our way through this tough time.

It is a sad afternoon for our Smyrna family.

We want to introduce you to Officer Christopher Ewing.

Officer Ewing was killed in the line of duty yesterday evening in a motor vehicle accident while in the performance of his duties as a uniformed patrol officer. Officer Ewing was a two year veteran of the Smyrna Police Department and a veteran of the United Sates Air Force.

Officer Ewing was a friend to all in the department and was a hard working Officer who lead by example. He was an Officer that when you called for backup you wanted to hear his voice on the radio saying he was heading your way. His sense of humor and contagious smile will be greatly missed.

Rest In Peace brother, we have the watch from here.

Our prayers go out to the family of the officer involved and the entire Smyrna Police Department.

Today Governor Kemp announced that based on health data in the state there is a flattening of the curve with COVID-19 and he issued new orders regarding businesses and restaurants. His orders supersede any local orders, and state that businesses like barbershops, salons, gyms, bowling alleys, tattoo parlors, massage establishments and some other indoor facilities that were closed under previous orders may reopen Friday as long as they adhere to safety requirements and social distancing standards. Dine-in restaurants and theaters may reopen Monday, with safety guidelines forthcoming from the Governor’s office later this week. Churches may resume in person services but are encouraged to exercise strict safety measures and social distancing. Bars and nightclubs remain closed. Citizens are still encouraged to shelter in place as much as possible through April 30. We will provide more specifics as they are available.
