Throwback 2001: Back in the day, when you purchased an album, be it vinyl, cassette, or CD and your read the album credits, you read publishing credits and ASCAP or BMI were listed.

What that is, is owing your music. It tracks your music when it gets played, on the radio, movies, shows, etc. The short term to that is, royalties. To which, I still recieve royalty checks for my music.

I have always pushed for artist to do this.

2001, I applied with American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP) and got my writers and my own publishing company.

I still run and own my music / publishing company today.

Throwback 2001: While Barrett Vorhis aka B-Dog working on "The 831 Compilation." I got ahold of The Salinas Californian Newspaper who shot this photo and did a story on us.

There were many more local artist on that project, but we were the ones that showed up that day to talk to the journalist.

We always ran into each other during studio sessions, collaborations, etc. But this is perhaps the only time we were all together in one place at the same time.

I was still working hard on my solo album, "Casualties of Life" and getting daily phone calls from Koch Records during this time.

Great times, and good people.

Respect,

Throwback 2001: Performing under my former alias, Gemini, Myself, Eddie Vega and other local recording artist, performed for the Montery County Youth Detention Center in Salinas, Ca.

Giving back to our community, we all performed clean, uplifting, inspiring, and positive music at this show.

Throwback 2000: Like most of my projects, there was a lot going on in my personal life during this time.

This was my first live performance of songs from my "Casualties of Life" album. The album was still nowhere near complete during this time, but I was out there promoting what was coming.

A special thank you to Laureen Diephof who wrote this piece for the Soledad Bee Newspaper.

Throwback 2000: When Koch Records (eOne), was calling my phone daily seeking to sign me. 2Face Entertainment was 9 months old. At the same time, I was promoting a compilation album when the Soledad Bee reached out.

The journalist kept asking about my personal life and my solo album (Casualties of Life), I was working on.

In the photos is my mother (R.I.P.), myself, and my nephew Eddie Vega

Bottom photo is myself, Epi Beltran & Barrett Vorhis

Oct. 8, 2002, my first professional recorded album, Casualties of Life hit the streets. Featuring big named artist and featuring as many local artist that I could.

The recording of this album caught the attention of Koch Records, who reached out to me and was looking to sign me to the label.

The rest? Fell into 831 rap history.
