Independent recording studio and workspace in East Somerville. For more information, go to pinknoise-studios.com
Pink Noise Studios is a recording and practice space operated by Daniel Thorn and located in East Somerville, Massachusetts not far off McGrath Highway and close to Inman and Union Squares. We aim to provide a space and resources for DIY-minded and independent artists and understand that artists today have deep knowledge of and interest in recording and releasing their own music. The bands who use our space regularly record themselves, and I’m glad to contribute resources for them to do so.

It’s really hard to say this, but Pink Noise’s lease at 15 Ward Street in Somerville is ending at the end of March.
I’ve got a limited amount of time left in February and March for my last recording sessions in the space before I close up shop, so please reach out if there’s anything I can help you record before then.
I will continue to mix and master music, and to edit podcasts, after moving out of the Ward Street space.
I’ve written more about the events that led up to this, and how I’m feeling about it, here: https://youseemyproblemisthis.substack.com/p/pink-noise-studios-2014-2022
Thanks to everyone who’ve been a part of this space over the years, and who have made Pink Noise what it is. I love you all.
I’m hoping to continue recording music, whether in a new space of my own, at someone else’s studio, or with a mobile rig at your house. I’m endlessly inspired by all of your creativity and kindness, and I look forward to working with you into the future.

Friday night was nothing short of a dream.
The road to get there was a long one with many hurdles and sleepless nights but it was surreal to see my vision come to life and I thank you for all the ways you all have supported, impacted, and joined me on my journey. And to the dozens and dozens of folks who helped me make Friday night a beloved disco fever dream, I am forever grateful…..
To my band- thank you for your talent, your dedication, your humor, and your willingness to invest your time into this project. Many of you have multiple music projects, countless personal commitments, and various jobs and yet you continued to show up for me and literally blew me away. I love you forever Fiona Wood, Corey Rosenberg, Allister Quilon, Dan Thorn, Ivan Pyzow, and Timothy Hall.
To my family- thank you for traveling from literally all over the country to help me on my night-before-show scramble, for helping me prep and decorate the space, and for singing with me and cheering me on. I wouldn’t be who I am today without all the lessons you’ve taught me, all the music you share with me growing up, and without you all being living examples of “do everything with passion and dedication”. Friday night was OUR night. We did this together. John Corless, Maureen Corless, Christine Corless Bronner, Helen de Troy, Laura Corless, Charles Unfathomably Holbrow.
To my friends- thank you for reminding me to breath and for always reaching out to check in on me when you knew I was juggling a lot. The dedication and selflessness of you all is exemplary and I truly have the best friends. You are sparkle tornados to be reckoned with.
To my production crew- thank you for stepping up and playing such important roles in making the event run smoothly. Thank you dj flaccid and L'duke for burning up the dance floor with your music- you liberated our bodies and minds and we are all better for it. Thank you JD Neinast for running door, Q aka Your Q***r Mawm for running merch, Stephanie Popowski and Liz McGuinn for being the best vintage saleswomen ever, Jill McCracken for photographing the event and helping create lasting visual memories, OJ Slaughter for the pre-show photoshoot- you always know how to capture me in the ways that I want to be seen and for being my right hand babe in the final moments, Najeema Holas-Huggins for quite literally slaying my face, Becky Donner for working with me to create the most delicious custom earrings for the show.
To Pink Noise Studios - Somerville- thank you for being our disco playground. You've been my musical playground since 2014 and it's been an honor growing with you. You are special.
To my HipStory fam- You’ve been here from the beginning and you’ve supported me throughout this journey. VQnC wouldn’t be what it is or what it’s become without your support, guidance, collaboration, and LOVE. Thank you for everything Cliff Notez, Tim Hall, Oompa, Forte, Nicholas Antonio Rodriguez Martin, and Hamstank.
To Tony Hamoui- this project brought us together and taught us a great deal about teamwork. Through your love and friendship, I have been transformed so I thank you for pushing me, loving me, and believing in me always. We fu***ng did it.

VQnC's debut album is out now! Give it a listen on Spotify and get ready for the album release party 4/5!!!
I give you, “Freedom”
Life can be filled with darkness. Life can be filled with loss. That same life can be filled with growth. That same life can also be filled to the brim with love.
I started this project during a period of self-doubt and deep sadness. I am lucky to have a supportive community who challenged me to look inward and outward at the same time to remind myself that beauty is everywhere and darkness can be fleeting if I allow it to be. I am grateful for the gift of music which gave me the tools to navigate through these feelings and to help me create a tangible example of what resilience can look like and what it can sound like.
I hope that this album meets you where you are and helps you get to where you need to be.
I love you!
and everywhere else you listen to music ;)

We caught in the act of recording the final overdub on ‘s upcoming LP. 14 songs tracked over 5 days and I can’t be more excited for you all to hear them. I want to pull an all nighter and mix them all down tonight but i think I need to go to bed now.
Day 3 of tracking with was guitar day. We tracked guitar for 13 songs and got deep in the with ‘s (for heavier tones) and (cleaner tones) + the studio’s for some Dick Dale-accurate surfy sounds.
All that and we tracked lead vocals for four songs and saxophone for two. Looking forward to keyboards and vocals tomorrow! @ Pink Noise Studios - Somerville
