Josh paid thirteen dollars for two tickets. He says that was too much.
The sixth Evil Dead comes from Sébastien Vaniček, the guy who made the excellent Infested, and it sends a grieving widow to a remote family house to mourn her husband with his in-laws. Some are calling it the nastiest entry in the franchise. Eric had a good time. Josh timed the good parts and came up with about three minutes.

Josh walked in ready to crown it the new number one. He walked out asking if it could crack the top ten.
Kane Parsons takes the viral YouTube Backrooms feature length, with Chiwetel Ejiofor as a furniture store owner who no-clips into the yellow rooms. Eric showed up with his buddy Joe in the Scooby-Doo van to a silent, packed house. The hosts agree on the flaws and split clean on the verdict.

Eric had a good time. Josh felt nothing. One of those is a worse review.
Andre Ovredal's Passenger (2026) puts a demonic stalker in the rearview mirror of two van-life newbies who made the mistake of stopping to help at a wreck. Eric and his buddy Joe were the only ones in the theater laughing. Josh called it sixty seconds in and never got pulled back.
We break down:
• Why the cold open is the strongest five minutes of the movie
• The single best writing decision in the film (it is the boyfriend refusing to gaslight)
• Melissa Leo delivering the worst exposition dump of 2026, then exiting thirty seconds later

BONUS EPISODE! DYW S02E03: Hokum 2026

Dad, you're wrong. And this time Josh means it.

Damien McCarthy's Hokum (2026) gives Eric and Josh their first real split of Season 2. Adam Scott plays a whiskey-drinking novelist on a very bad trip to an Irish inn, and the hosts cannot agree on whether the film earns its mood. Josh sees a complete three-act story with a real character arc. Eric sees atmosphere without a through line, and is tired of audiences doing the homework in post.

Josh pulls Galaxy Quest (1999) in the VHS Vault and dares anyone to argue it is not the best Star Trek movie ever made.

Dad, you're wrong. Wait. No. This time he's not.

Curry Barker's Obsession (2026) is the rarest thing on this podcast: a movie Eric and Josh agree on completely. Both walked in blind. Both call it their number one film of the year. A one million dollar feature debut that out-performs studio horror three times its size, with what may be the performance of the year from Indy Navarretta and a craftsman behind the camera who actually understands restraint.

No VHS Vault this week. Josh tells you to spend that ticket money on a second screening instead.

DAD, YOU'RE WRONG - S02E01 'Undertone' AKA
"A24, Do You Have Mommy Issues?"
Dad, You're Wrong is back for 2026. First film up: Undertone.
One of us walked out wanting to watch it again that same day. The other checked his phone three or four times. You can probably guess which is which.
We get into: the sound design debate, the unreliable narrator theory that makes the ending actually make sense, the analog versus digital horror conversation, the Skinamarink and Iron Lung comparisons, and the question this film kept raising about A24's recent track record.
VHS Vault: Josh finds a Sundance screener of Pi (1998) at a thrift store in Pilsen. It fits this episode better than anything we could have planned.
