SHALOM
DAY 9 - CHRISTMAS NOVENA
(O Emmanuel - God With Us, Our Hope and Joy)
THURSDAY - 24/12/2025
PRAYER INTENTION
For the Poor and Needy:
Today we pray for the less fortunate, that they may experience Christ's love through our acts of charity and generosity, especially during this holy season.
*MEDITATION*
"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
—Matthew 25:40
"Share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, cover him, and do not hide yourself from your own flesh."
—Isaiah 58:7.
The birth of Christ in a humble stable speaks volumes about God’s solidarity with the poor and lowly. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus reminds us that serving the less fortunate is serving Him directly. This truth calls us to extend the joy of Christmas beyond our homes to those in need.
Isaiah 58:7 challenges us to recognize the divine image in every person, especially those who are hungry, homeless, or marginalized. Acts of charity and generosity are not optional for Christians—they are integral to living the Gospel. Through these acts, we become bearers of Christ’s light, sharing His love and hope with a broken world.
As we reflect on the needs of others this Christmas, may we open our hearts to give selflessly, remembering that every kind act reveals Christ to the world. In giving, we not only bless others but also encounter Christ in profound and transformative ways.
*In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen*
*I Confess to You*
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Amen.
*Come Holy Spirit*
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
*The Lord's Prayer*
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not Into temptation, but deliver us from evil.Amen.
*Hail Mary*
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us Sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
*Opening prayer*
Heavenly Father, as we pray this novena in preparation for the birth of Your Son, we open our hearts to receive Him. Send us Your grace, so that through our prayers, reflections, and actions, we may encounter Christ anew. May this time of prayer deepen our faith, increase our hope, and kindle our love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
*DAY 9 - CHRISTMAS NOVENA*
(Pause to mention your personal intentions)
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment
In which the Son of God was born
Of the most pure Virgin Mary,
At midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold.
In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God,
To hear my prayers and grant my desires,
Through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, And of His Blessed Mother. Amen.
*Prayer for the Poor and Needy*
O Christ, born in a manger and welcomed by the humble, teach us to see Your face in the poor and needy around us. May our hearts overflow with compassion and our hands with generosity. Inspire us to share our blessings, not out of abundance but out of love, knowing that whatever we do for the least of our brothers and sisters, we do for You. Help us to be Your light in the darkness, bringing hope and joy to those who need it most. Come, Lord Jesus, and dwell in every heart this Christmas. Amen.
*LITANY FOR THE CHRISTMASS NOVENA*
Lord, have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us, Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously hear us.
God the Father of Heaven, Have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world, Have mercy on us.
God the Holy Spirit, Have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, One God, Have mercy on us.
*Response: Blessed are you for ever.*
Blessed are you, Lord God.
Holy is your name.
You have sent your Son to be one of us, our brother.
You chose Mary the Virgin to be His mother.
You love Your people with deepest love.
You have sent Your Son to save us from sin.
Great is Your mercy for Your people.
You fill Your children with joy and peace.
You call us to praise Your name.
Look with love upon Your holy Church.
Send the Spirit of Your Son into our hearts.
Let us bring glory and praise to Your name.
Through Jesus Christ Your Son.
And in the love of Your Holy Spirit.
*Response: We celebrate Your love.*
God of unimaginable love,
on the first Christmas, You became one of us.
God of all humanity,
You offered Your Peace to anyone who would be satisfied with Your presence.
God of the shepherds,
You announced Your arrival among us to the poorest, the most humble.
God of the manger,
You came to us through Your Son in a small and simple place.
God of deliverance,
You came to be one of us in order to deliver all of us.
God of birth,
when You became as we are, You opened Yourself to each of us,
no matter who or what we are.
---
*Let us pray....*
God of Christmas,
bless us as we once again celebrate Your coming into Your creation.
May the joy of Your birth fill our hearts,
and may Your love guide our lives,
now and forever. Amen.
*Glory be to the Father*
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
*In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen*
