A 19-year-old Spencer man, Jason Michael Hauschen, has pleaded not guilty to several misdemeanor charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a group of teenagers during a road rage incident.
The incident happened on July 3, when Spencer police responded to a report of someone pointing a handgun at a car full of teens. According to court documents, the situation started in Milford, where Hauschen was a passenger in a vehicle that followed another car carrying two minors down Highway 71. As both cars drove side by side near the North Y in Spencer, Hauschen allegedly pulled out a tan and black 9mm handgun and pointed it at the teens.
The teenagers gave a detailed description of the weapon, later confirmed to be a Ta**us pistol. Police say Hauschen tried to hide the gun and was also found with ma*****na in his pocket when he was arrested.
He’s facing three charges: assault while carrying a dangerous weapon (an aggravated misdemeanor), possession of a controlled substance, and being ineligible to carry a firearm (both serious misdemeanors). Hauschen submitted a not guilty plea in writing on July 21, and on July 28, Judge Shawna Dittsworth appointed attorney Amy Zenor from Milford to represent him.
