Authorities say an Estherville woman was taken into custody after a rollover crash early Monday morning near Trumbull Lake in Clay County.

According to information from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of 310th Avenue (County Road N-14). Investigators determined that 20-year-old Makenna Stevens, of Estherville, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox southbound when the vehicle left the roadway, overcorrected, and went into the opposite ditch. The vehicle reportedly became airborne over a field drive, rolled twice, and came to rest on its roof.

Stevens was not injured in the crash. The vehicle was declared a total loss. Officials noted that weather and road conditions did not contribute to the accident.

Stevens was arrested and charged with failure to maintain control, driving while license suspended, possession of alcohol under the legal age, and a .02 violation. She was booked into the Clay County Jail following the incident.
