🌟 I proudly nominated Blunt for a Juneteenth Pillar Award! 🌟

When I first met Yodhunda, I was working as a doula with the Shades of Motherhood Network. From day one, she was one of the kindest, sweetest, most caring, and compassionate people I had ever met.

But what truly sets her apart is that her love for this community isn’t just something she talks about—it’s something she invests in.

Yodhunda has dedicated countless hours to Spokane through her free community Zumba classes at the Northeast Community Center, creating a space where people can move, connect, and heal together.

And if that wasn’t enough, she personally organized and paid for a community event at Mission Park that brought hundreds of people together. She fed approximately 500 community members, created a day of joy, connection, and celebration, and asked for nothing in return.

Not because she had to.

Not because she was getting paid.

Because she genuinely cares about people.

Because she genuinely cares about Spokane.

Too often, the people doing the real work behind the scenes don’t get the recognition they deserve. They quietly show up, serve others, and pour into the community without expecting applause.

Today, I want to make sure Yodhunda Blunt gets her flowers. 🌹

Thank you for feeding us.
Thank you for bringing us together.
Thank you for reminding us what community looks like.

Spokane is better because of you. ❤️🖤💚

We’re Looking for a Personal Assistant to Help Build Something Bigger 💛

I’m reaching out because I need help.

As the organizer behind Blackish in Spokane, our work has grown beyond what one person can reasonably manage. Between planning events, coordinating community projects, managing partnerships, answering emails, scheduling, and keeping the day-to-day operations moving, I’m finding myself buried in administrative work.

I’m looking for a personal assistant (preferably a woman) who believes in community and wants to be part of building something meaningful.

What the role might include:
✨ Managing emails and messages
✨ Scheduling appointments and meetings
✨ Keeping calendars organized
✨ Assisting with event planning and logistics
✨ Following up with community partners and volunteers
✨ Helping keep projects on track
✨ General administrative support

Time commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility.

I want to be completely transparent: this is currently an unpaid volunteer position. Blackish in Spokane is an up-and-coming nonprofit organization, and we’re still building our capacity. My goal is to grow this work into a sustainable organization where key team members can be compensated, and I fully intend for this position to become a paid opportunity as funding allows.

More than anything, I’m looking for someone who is:
• Organized and dependable
• Compassionate and community-minded
• A great communicator
• Self-motivated and able to take initiative
• Excited to help build something from the ground up

This isn’t just about helping me stay organized. It’s about helping create spaces where Black voices, stories, and culture can thrive in Spokane.

If you’ve been looking for a way to make an impact, gain nonprofit and community organizing experience, and be part of a growing movement, I’d love to connect with you.

Sometimes the most meaningful opportunities come from building something before the spotlight finds it.

Please message me if you’re interested or know someone who might be a good fit. 🤎🖤
