One of the spots that was recommended multiple times to me, on FB & Instagram was Great Southern Cafe in Seaside, so of course we made that our first stop!

✨Grits A Ya Ya: Gouda grits with smoked bacon, cremini mushrooms, spinach, finished with spiced shrimp and topped with crispy sweet potatoes. This was the most recommended dish, and our serve stated it was the signature dish on the menu. The grits were creamy and nutty, with a great earthy bite from the mushrooms. Plus, those shrimp were seasoned perfectly and tender, such a wonderful dish!

✨Fried Green Tomato Benedict: An English muffin topped with fried green tomatoes, and poached eggs. Topping crispy, salty, fried green tomatoes, with perfectly poached eggs is the way to go! Runny yolk, with a zesty, bright tomato, is a must try!

✨Grits and Grillades: Slow roasted beef with veggies in wine broth, on a bed of Gouda grits. As you can tell, grits are the magic word with these meals! Making a grits bowl filled with the savory beef and veggies, was a hearty meal that my mom loved!

✨Biscuits & Gravy: Split biscuits covered in their house made sausage gravy. I can’t get brunch or breakfast without trying biscuits and gravy! Their sausage was cooked very fine, it was peppery, creamy, and those biscuits were warm and fluffy!

So much great food, and the atmosphere and scenery was so nice. Plus, the bottle of Big Jim’s Oyster Juice hot sauce must be put on everything, it’s so good! I can see why this spot is a fan favorite and can’t recommend it enough!

I asked where I should eat while I’m visiting Destin/Miramar Beach and you guys delivered! One of the most reoccurring suggestions had been Boshamps Oyster House so the moment we got checked in to our house, that’s where we headed for lunch!

✨Raw “Nekkid” Oyster: These were brought in from Louisiana, served on ice with Southern, cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemon, Mignonette. I’m not showing up to an oyster house without getting some raw oysters! Topping each with horseradish, and cocktail sauce, each oyster was briny, fresh, chilled, and a great lil kick of heat.

✨Oysters Boshamp: Oysters baked with caramelized Vidalia onions, feta cheese, and in-house made bacon marmalade. These were rich and savory, with a nice touch of sweetness from the vidalia onions, but having that added salty bite of feta and bacon was excellent!

✨ Alabama gulf shrimp roll: a buttery roll filled with fresh shrimp tossed Alabama White sauce. Served cold, tossed in that creamy, dilly, Alabama sauce. This was my brothers meal, and he loved it!

✨BoBo’s Burger: Talked with pimento cheese, lettuce, pickled red onions, House cured pickles, bacon marmalade,  served with a side of balsamic grilled vocal vegetables. A great burger is a great burger, but sometimes the sides make the burger and that was very true in this case! These balsamic grilled veggies also came with pickled fruit! Strawberries, apples, cantaloupe, it was so dang good!

✨Boshamps Po’ Boy:  Fried shrimp piled onto a soft roll with lettuce and tomato. You can also get it topped with green tomato chow chow. I wish I had gone the chow chow route, but it was a great Po’boy none the less! Crispy shrimp, with tartar sauce is never a bad route!

✨House Smoked Yellowfin Tuna Dip: This, THIS! It’s simple, yet so good! Smoky, and savory, I could have eaten this whole jar by myself!

I loved the smell of smoke the moment you step out of your car from the smokers, getting to watch the staff filleting fish through the window at the front of the restaurant, and hearing about all the food they bring in locally, and catch daily! Such a great start to a vacation!
