Special thanks are extended to Bill Grikis for our recently completed telephone interview concerning the manhunt for Ted Bundy in June 1977. Grikis ran the Animal Control department for Aspen and Pitkin County. The self-described "Dogcatcher to the Stars" manned a roadblock in Woody Creek, keeping his eyes peeled for the resourceful fugitive.

“Bundy: A Killer in Aspen” is written and produced by my friend, Vince Lahey. After conducting over fifty interviews and scouring through reams of primary source documentation, Lahey presents the story of America’s most notorious serial killer as he made his agonizing mark on the Centennial State. Lahey’s five-part docuseries concerning Bundy’s two-year stay in Colorado is coming soon!”

Special thanks are extended to Ken Eilers for his assistance in explaining how the photographs Mark Lewy took of Ted Bundy, walking into the Pitkin County Courthouse, were developed in an Aspen photography shop. Lewy took this photo on June 7, 1977, only two hours before Bundy jumped out of the second-story window of the courthouse. This picture was used to create handbills that were distributed to most of the eleven known roadblocks that were erected in and around town.

Anyone recognize this man? Shortly after Ted Bundy escaped from the courthouse, “this” man began providing the public with a description of the fugitive. Over KSPN radio in Aspen, he said, “Bundy was last seen wearing a brown turtleneck sweater and tan corduroys. He’s described as 5’11” with brown, wavy, ear-length hair. The sheriff says he is dangerous, and you should not try and apprehend him. If you spot Bundy, call the sheriff’s department immediately.”
