The Lake Country Weekender

The Lake Country Weekender A monthly arts, events and tourism guide to the Little Finger Lakes Region of Western New York State

I have been living in the Little Finger Lakes region for over a decade now. I discovered that the area is full of beautiful scenery, talented people, and fun events, yet I saw so little publicity about it—while there is much to be found about the bigger Finger Lakes, very little is said about the little ones. This inspired me to start a new publication in May 2011 that shares all this with the people who live and visit here. Now, The Lake Country Weekender is doing just that, as an arts, events, and tourism guide to the Little Finger Lakes, with stories about interesting people and things to do. Readers are telling me it’s just what the area needs! My mission with The Lake Country Weekender is to bring an awareness and interest to the Little Finger Lakes region and, in doing so, promote the businesses and events in the area. Many regular advertisers have been reporting good results from their ads in The Lake Country Weekender. If you have been advertising in other publications or media, try The Lake Country Weekender. I think you will notice a difference! —Diane Olson, Publisher

Time to say "Good-bye"
After 8 1⁄2 years of publication, the October edition of the Lake Country Weekender will be the last. When I first started in May 2011, my mission was to promote the arts, events, and tourism activities in the Little Finger Lakes communities, as well as provide a marketing tool to the local businesses, and this was my focus as I published throughout these past years. I believe that mission was fulfilled, as I have heard many good comments from readers and advertisers on how my publication kept them informed and brought attention to the area’s events and businesses.
It has been a pleasure to do so, but hard work as well, and after 46 years of experience in the publication and newspaper business, I am ready to retire.
Many thanks to all the loyal advertisers and contributors who made the Lake Country Weekender possible, and also to the readers. I will miss my interactions with all of you. Good-bye, and please continue to support your local arts, events, and businesses.
