A version of this column ran in early March and, my, those were simpler times. The baseball season, like so much of life, has been dramatically altered by COVID-19. The unprecedented nature of a 60-game schedule taking place during a global pandemic throws most, if not all, analysis out the

One of the more fascinating aspects of the MVP Award, particularly in a post-Barry Bonds age, is how many different people win one. Here’s a fun fact: In the past 10 years of the National League, 10 different players have won the MVP. That’s right, we’ve had no repeats in

Our Story

We are heading into our 8th year in 2020! It’s amazing how Arch City Media has evolved and the experiences and opportunities that have come along with it. We are dedicated to covering local sports and entertainment.

Arch City Media has a core staff of writers and photographers who cover events and many contributors who share their opinions on the local sports teams. Many of our staffers have worked for local teams and other local media and bring a lot of experience together. Over the years, Arch City Media has continued to grow, helping our staff increase both in size and in talent. We have been credentialed to minor league, college, and high school sports in the area and even some of the Cardinals’ affiliate teams. Hopefully, we can soon add St. Louis’ major league teams to this list, too.

As of now, Arch City Media’s site has had over 3,500,000 unique views. All of our hardworking writers, photographers, and podcasters truly appreciate your continued support as we make this our job, a passionate hobby, or as a stepping stone into something bigger down the line. We hope you continue to enjoy what we do as much as we do.

What happened to the video game baseball season??
My buddy just landed his Cirrus plane at Cahokia airport and saw the Chargers airplane there. I have heard the there are a bunch of problems with the new stadium in L.A. wonder of they are checking out exit plan cities?
Just seen on Twitter that the cardinals sign yasiel puig to a two year contract.
I've been listening to the replays of classic games on MLB channel on XM, and the late game yesterday was game 3, 1971 NLCS, Giants at Pirates. Vin Scully did play-by-play, and Bob Gibson was the color man. I had no idea that Gibby had done this, and I was immediately fascinated. Scully asked lots of questions to set him up, and Bob gave blunt observations... "Willie (Mays) can't get around on the good fastball any more"; "I don't think his (Marichal) sidearm is any good ". Couldn't stay for all of it, sadly, but it was amazing!

Watching "The Last Dance" and can't help but notice many similarities between Jerry Krause and John Mozeliak and what happened after the 2011 WC title.
Have you ever noticed how mlb the show 20 is so predictable. Every time I make the playoffs. 95 percent of the time it goes full series and it's always I win one they win one until final game. Have you ever noticed that?
One year ago today I posted this in the PC (Pre-Covid) Era ... more normal times: Wacha pitched a beautiful six innings today 4-17-19 in our Redbirds' bounce back victory over the Brewers. Michael kept division leading Milwaukee off balance and guessing at the dish with his nasty, well placed four-seam fastball, which topped out at 95 MPH, his elusive 74 MPH curve, a wicked change-up, and a cutter that consistently sliced through the strike zone. His superb off-speed Bugs Bunny cartoon-like pitches had a potent Brew Crew lineup unable to barrell-up anything significant, with the exception of an eyes-closed 5th-inning swing by Brewers' relief pitcher Aaron Wilkerson that cleared the leftfield fence. It was his first major league hit. Wacha's stellar first W of the season included 7 Ks and only 1 BB in his 6-inning gem. The entire batting line-up contributed to the Redbirds' victory: Carp blasted a 419-foot round-tripper into the right centerfield bleachers (Matt laced two other "at-em balls" that could have been doubles); P. Goldy had two hits; All-Star candidate (.342 BA /10 RBI / 1.037 OPS) Paul DeJong posted his second 4-hit game in The Show and flashed the leather at shortstop; Marcel Oh-Zee's 409-foot homer was Ozuna's 8th in '19 (16 ribs / 1.069 OPS ); JMart singled; Dex walked, singled and scored; Kolten Wong upped his BA to .316 with a 3-for-4 performance, OPS to 1.051 and slickly fielded his 2B post (All-Star keystone combo with PDJ); Matt Wieters admirably subbed for Yadi, scalding a couple of hits for 2 RBI. Johnny Gant remained stellar (earned his 3rd Hold), and J Hicks threw his 100 MPH frozen ropes and a few dazzling sliders for strikes while securing his 4th Save of the 2019 campaign. Way to go TEAM! Hats off to Skipper M. Shildt, and coaches Stubby and Pop! Keep on keepin' on to capturing #12 in 19. 🔥 Enjoy your day off. #PositiveCardsFan
