In this episode Addie explains a few tips on how yin yoga can supportive to those experiencing chronic pain:

3 Understandable But Unhelpful Habit Patterns:
1) Fixating (perhaps Yang in its intensity of laser focus on the pain, and the likelihood of stimulating a lot of thoughts like worry, catastrophizing related to the immediate pain experience)
2) Avoiding/Distracting (perhaps Yang in its restlessness, the energy involved in moving attention away from what is happening, blocking out the experience)
3) Overriding (quite Yang in that it involves a mind-over-matter attitude, where we force the body to do things despite the pain)

Who are Grounded Teaching
We offer learning opportunities for teachers to live more fully—finding energy and clarity.
We focus on improving the quality of life for the teachers in our educational system, knowing that when human teachers are able to more healthfully re-connect within themselves, re-connect within their communities, and re-connect within their place on mama earth, they become the models for expressing their full potential and living fully, just as we hope our students will.
We want to empower teachers to become models of a whole, fully-conscious life in the classroom and out.

Jess Boeke
Jess is in her 16th year in the classroom in her third district and second state. She’s taught thousands of students and last year piloted the Regenerative Ed framework for her classes with great results. She’s a certified yoga teacher, movement/breathwork coach, and incorporates her understanding of these practices into her teaching practices. She co-founded the Rust Belt Fibershed with Sarah.

Sarah Pottle
Sarah has personally coached hundreds of teachers through thousands of lessons and trained hundreds of teachers and leaders in high-quality, equitable instruction. Sarah also works as an advocate for regenerative farming and co-founded the Rust Belt Fibershed, which works to localize a regenerative fashion system within 250 miles of Cleveland, Ohio. The crossover between her work in ed, her work in agriculture, and her training as a health coach has led to this Grounded Teaching project.

One the best ways to begin authentic and inclusive networking. Is through Campaign Based Networking. Check out these three strategies for authentic networking :

1) In campaign based networking you reach out to your community to find people who can help you with a problem you might need to solve

2) Prioritize folks of color, in the disability community or in LGBTQIA whose skills can help with your current need or problem

3)Continue to build relationships with these folks in live interactive, scheduled zoom sessions to see if you are in alignment with them. Remember to ask about things other than work. Ask about their passion, self-care routines, favorite podcasts, etc.
