Tonight kicks off one of my FAVORITE traditions in Bellefontaine Neighbors — Summer Karaoke Nights with our Recreation Department. 🩵🎤

And baby, when I tell y’all this is more than karaoke… it’s community.

Folks pull up from Bellefontaine Neighbors, Jennings, Moline Acres, Castle Point, and all across North County just to laugh, dance, sing, line dance with the Sharks & Guppies 😂, and let their hair down for a few hours. If you know, you KNOW. And if you don’t know yet… come find out tonight because our seniors in Bellefontaine Neighbors do NOT play about a good time.

It’s been a heavy year already. We’ve lost people. The world feels stressful. Politics and legislation got folks tired. And honestly? Events like this matter. This is what village feels like. This is what community healing looks like in real time.

So bring your lawn chairs. Bring the babies. Bring your cousin that think they can sing and the auntie that KNOW she can’t. 😂

I’ll be out there with some bubbles and little activities for the youth — nothing formal, just good vibes and space for our kids to enjoy being outside.

And listen… I cannot sing a LICK, but I WILL grab that mic and act like I got a record deal for 3 minutes. 😭

Oh — and it’s FREE and open to the public. Rain or shine, we outside! If it rains, we’ll just move the party inside the gym, so either way, come on out.

POV: You officially got a card-carrying Democrat in the family. 😂

I ain’t never heard nobody say “card-carrying Democrat” in real life… now look at me. Missouri Democrats done mailed me an official membership card for 2026 WITH no expiration date. Baby this feel very much adulting meets civic engagement. 😭

I’ve definitely heard of a card-carrying Christian… but a Democrat? Oh we outside now.

So please put a lil’ respect on my name.

I’m Brittany Alberty, Alderwoman of Ward 3, community advocate, professional overthinker, and apparently an official card carrying member of the Missouri Democratic Party. 😂

‼️Hold for Amara’s voiceover please ‼️

Yesterday was more than just a race. It felt like the beginning of a new family tradition. ✨

Watching Amara complete her very first 1K at the Ferguson Twilight Run was such a special moment for me as a mom. Last year we did a wellness walk together, but this year she had to truly push through and finish — and whew, there were definitely moments where she wanted to quit. 😂

There were tears, “my legs don’t work,” and requests for mama to carry her, but together we kept going, one step at a time. And seeing her cross that finish line and earn her medal reminded me that perseverance starts young. Sometimes the biggest lessons aren’t taught through words, but through experiences we create together.

I’m grateful for community, for movement, for memories close to home in North County, and for the opportunity to build new generational traditions with my family rooted in wellness, joy, and togetherness. 💜

And the best part? Baby girl started the race FULL SPEED ahead like she was leading the whole thing. 😂🏅
