Let’s Talk About Personal Inventories
Why do I need my own inventory if the movers create one?
📦 Movers will create an inventory that will have a general description. They will not list everything that goes into the box.
📦 In the event you have a catastrophic loss, you will be required to itemize the contents of your shipment. Have an inventory already done can make the claims process go smoother and faster.
Also, if you have a natural disaster or house fire, you will need an itemized list of what you are claiming for them as well. It serves multiple purposes.
👉 You can choose how you want to do your inventory. You can make it as detailed as you want and decide how you do it.
📝 It can be a list of items - if you go this route include information such as make, model, brand, size, material, where it was purchased and the cost.
Don’t let it feel daunting. Start with HV items, then furniture in each room, then decor, then all the little things.
📸 It can be compiled of pictures- think easy! Stand in a room, snap a pic, turn 30-45°, snap a pic, turn some more, and repeat until done. Having pictures will help if you need to itemize and will make remembering each thing a little easier.
