Music at the Intersection and Midwest Music Summit events will be postponed until 2021. The health and safety of participating musicians, volunteers and attendees is our top priority, which made the decision to move Music at the Intersection (originally scheduled for September 11-13, 2020) to September 10-12, 2021. The Midwest Music Summit, a music industry centered event designed to provide opportunities for connection and professional development, has also been slated for September 2021.

Many of the touring artists that were booked for this year’s Music at the Intersection event and event sponsors have already committed to the rescheduled festival in 2021. And, importantly, this will position us to give focus where it’s needed most during this time: Exploring options for ways to offer support of the St. Louis region’s music economy in the shorter term.

Thank you for your continued support!

Some chilling news from Americans for the Arts and further proof that Arts are more than amenity ... Arts are an economy:

"In response to the crisis within our cultural industry, Americans for the Arts quickly began surveying the economic impact of the coronavirus on the nonprofit arts industry. In just two weeks, more than 8,000 organizations provided detailed data on their measurable impact. The survey shows 93% of responding organizations have had to cancel events with total lost attendance topping more than 53 million people. The estimated direct loss of income for this industry to date is $3.6 billion. Americans for the Arts shared with Congress the details of its survey results, along with a series of specific legislative requests to prevent the collapse of the arts and culture industry in America."

Our Story

So, what’s this all about? St. Louis’ music heritage is well documented. The music economy of our city is strong, and we aim to keep it that way. Now, it’s time to celebrate.

The Saint Louis Music Initiative is a collaborative effort consisting of Saint Louis Music Week, the Midwest Music Summit and Music at the Intersection. It’s designed to promote the St. Louis music scene, connect and grow music industry infrastructure and celebrate the city's rich music heritage.

Saint Louis Music Week, set to start Labor Day Weekend 2020, will actively market and promote live music events throughout St. Louis. It’s a celebration of the live music taking place in our city. Venues, organizations and artists who are performing throughout our region September 4-13, 2020 are encouraged to share their information so that we can “shine a light” on all of the music offerings taking place in St. Louis.

Music at the Intersection is a three-day music and place-making event celebrating St. Louis’ musical heritage and wrapping up Saint Louis Music Week on September 11-13, 2020. More than 60 national, regional and local music performances will be staged on two outdoor and seven indoor stages within the Grand Center Arts District. The footprint will be walkable and will allow attendees to create their own music experience under a single ticket for all indoor stages; the two outdoor stages (at Strauss Park and the Big Top) will be free to the public. Tickets for the indoor stage portion of the event will be available Spring 2020. Music genres represented will span the spectrum and national/regional performers selected will skew toward St. Louis-connected musicians and content. Music at the Intersection is a collaboration of more than two dozen supporting partners and is sponsored by DDI Media, Edward Jones, Kranzberg Arts Foundation, Steward Family Foundation and World Wide Technology.
