GCAA Student Media was founded in 2013 by adviser Travis Armknecht and a group of students interested in creating the first-ever yearbook. The 2014 issue of the Expression was released in May of that year.
The following fall, the returning staff members were joined by new students interested in not only creating the second volume of the Expression, but also in a new venture: GCAAtoday.com – the student news website.
In the spring of 2016, staff members created a single-issue senior magazine for the first graduating class. Each year since, staff create a new issue which is distributed to the graduating class during graduation rehearsal. The staff also create a special yearbook coverage section each spring, as a supplement to the yearbook.
Today, in addition to creating content for two publications, the converged staff has added broadcast to their list of responsibilities, producing video stories for the web and live streams of special events.
