89.29. The last ride. The final joke is finished. 12 PAGE COLOR IN FIRST PERIOD TOMORROW!!! Seniors, you can get your final PN edition at baccalaureate mass. (We’ve had a LOT of 12 pagers this semester! What a run.)

So proud of everyone’s contributions this year. Boy did we have a fun night to close it out. After a leisurely 1pm arrival for some seniors (NOT those in AP Spanish), we got down to work on this beautiful edition. Thank you SO MUCH to our editors’ parents who put on what has been called the most AMAZING last production night dinner party of all time!! Thank you to Mr. Missey for the books, senior speeches, and for 25 years lifting men up to the masthead. We can’t do it without you.

Our days at PN are numbered, but we know PN 90 (!!!) will carry on this legacy fiercely.

LONG LIVE PREP NEWS!

Out time: 11:02pm (NOT the latest of the year! Well deserved.)
Dinner: ya know 🤩

Has the curse been defeated? Only time will tell…

89.28 IS COMPLETE!!!!! THE BEAST SLAYED!!! We have conquered our 16 page COLLEGE MAP paper, rounding the climax of this year. This was an exciting week at every level. Firstly, we have a pope!!! And we have such a stellar article to show for it. We had some amazing work from new and young reporters (in articles AND on production night!) and some of the best, coolest articles of the year from our more experienced guys. We came in ready for battle this afternoon, and battle we did. As Mr. Missey had to leave to attend his daughter’s Confirmation (how could he!), we were blessed by the lovely presence of Mr. Tim Curdt, then subsequently, his son Mr. Thomas Curdt, our duo of guest moderators for the evening who held down the fort as best they could through the torrent of Mickey Mouse-ness that came upon the staff. But survive they did as Mr. Missey returned to close out the final hour or so of this massive paper. The dedication of this team, and also our devotion to getting web done well, led to us narrowly avoiding the latest ever out time by 4 minutes, settling for third latest. I couldn’t be more proud of the team this has become. The younger fellows are well-equipped to carry on into next year.

Although it may appear as though we have a skeleton crew, not to worry—our juniors (except Leo!!!) left a bit early for APUSH tomorrow morning. Good luck!

Out time: 11:02pm 😴😴😴
Dinner: Gramophone (check out the review at !!!)

OUT WITH 89.27!!!!!!!

A great production week full of CLUTCH performances by all of our new writers, BIG stories to tell, and lots of success!!

Thank you so much to Steve Smith ‘91 and Andrew Ivers ‘02 for the food courtesy of The Royale!!! We truly did feast and it’s a beautiful thing to see some of our own making a return to campus and doing this. I couldn’t be more grateful for the time and food we got to share with them.

Our time with PN 89 is almost at its close. It’s hard to believe I’m writing that—it feels like just yesterday we hung up that newspaper “89” in the window. But our time is not done yet and we are ready to make the most of these past couple of weeks. Wow!

And congrats to the seniors on our college decisions!!

Out time: 10:25pm
Dinner: Royale 😋😋

89.26… RELEASE!!! There is a 99% chance that you’re gonna get shivers reading this paper in first period tomorrow. That’s a beautiful thing. Despite the joke crash outs, we persevered with our THIRD twelve-pager in a row (ez 🥱). AND CHECK OUT OUR BEAUTIFUL MERCH!!!! Thank you, Kane, to the moon and back. Thank you to our sophomores for showing up big this week. The future is bright! The editors are trying their best to remain focused despite the flurry of distractions headed their way. But if I were, say, a director, I’d use gold to describe this time in the year of Prep News. It’s the golden days, where our staff and community have aged like fine wine and we are living out the bliss of running the greatest newspaper west of the Mississippi. The dust is settling and what’s more beautiful than that?

Dinner: PI GUY (😋😋… but where was the pep? )

Prep news… RELEASE!
Boys, we frankly have a wonderful edition put together for all of you tomorrow. Really there’s content in this paper for everyone, with some stellar news, features, and sports articles. Perhaps even a satire?
Even though we greatly missed our beloved moderator Mr. Missey tonight, we still got to be joined by SLUH and PN legend Mr. Deves.
Look out for papers first period tomorrow.

Out time: 10:18
Dinner: Sauce on the Side (thank you Hahn family)

89.24 JOB FINISHED!!!! This week’s paper was, as many like to say, a behemoth. The week was strenuous, the days hard, the nights long (especially tonight). But we persevered against this common enemy—the curse—TOGETHER. We did not let our differences separate us, but put out one of the most PRISTINE papers of the year… AND A 12 PAGER. Our global ed features were incredible, and .hunt cooked (perhaps a magnum opus?) with the COVID-19 anniversary story, and sports is really ramping up with new guys and new spring sports. Thank you to all of our diligent reporters, especially those writing just for the first or second time! Your hard work was much much appreciated. Look for some fat crisp copies in first period tomorrow (or, for parents: at the Conrads Way turnaround!!).

A big congratulations to . We are immensely proud of you ❤️❤️

Out time: 10:52pm
Dinner: Seoul Taco!!!!! Thank you very much to the fellas from PN 76 (what a throwback!) for this delicious meal and the stories and company you shared with us. It was a pleasure.

89.23 SLAM DUNK!!!! Crazy dang week. Although we only had an 8 pager again, that says nothing of the amount of heart and quality packed into these stacks of pages. Firstly what a job by Jack Auer on those basketball photos, and Theo and Jake knocked ‘em dead with that article. Wow oh wow. Not to mention a stellar news performance: our aspiring freshmen wrote AMAZING solo articles, and Xavier and Grant wrote a great piece about AI at SLUH. We missed our web demons, Thomas and Kane, tonight, and our resident troublemaker Jake. But thank you to stellar freshmen Jack Williamson and Owen (O-dub) Williams for stepping up and getting those articles up and rolling on the website. And lastly a killer masthead from Andrew Hunt (yeah he’s a News Editor 😎) was the cherry on top. Thank you to Dan’s sister for the delicious scones!! They almost topped the delectable Andy’s we got afterwards (if only we had seen our very own Andy’s employee News Editor Lucas Hayden in action!!). We will see you with stacks of lovely broadsheets in our outstretched arms tomorrow morning!!!

Out time: 9:19pm

89.22 OUT!!! We’ve pieced together a superb paper for you all this week. Congrats to our new reporters on their first articles!! You all did an amazing job. Despite the threats of articles being cut made by the malicious sports department, the talk of intentionally slacking off on production night by the juniors (unheard of!), and the returning distraction of sweet treats from Mrs. Hunt and , we put our heads down and got to work tonight to beat the 9:30pm deadline once again!!! Phenomenal work by all. Look for fresh copies in first period tomorrow!

Out time: 9:16pm
Dinner: Sesame 🥡🥡

Three shows, three acts, three stories. This winter’s studio show, Scenes From Chekhov, is set to open this Friday evening, promising a comedic look into some of the shorter works of the famous 19th-century Russian playwright Anton Chekhov. Directed by English teacher Chuck Hussung, the show is set to introduce some fresh St. Louis U. High student actors in a more personal and intimate studio-style staging.

Letter to the Editors from Student Body President Noah Butler: Why this mission week matters

Unless you live under a metaphorical SLUH rock, you’re probably aware that next week is Mission Week. Mission Week is headlined by some timeless SLUH events: a mandatory pep rally, StuCo v. Prep News (I promise we’re winning this year), Faculty Fest, and many others. But amidst all the fun, the ethos of Mission Week is simple: to give back to those in need. This year in particular, the proceeds generated from Mission Week will be dedicated to St. Francis Community Services, an organization worthy of our help at this very moment. As we enter next week, I, alongside the rest of the Student Council, ask that you keep that fact in mind.
